In my lab days, I printed many a mural. I have less than fond memories of trying to get multiple panels to mach due to uneven illumination in the enlarger, and praying a bulb wouldn't blow during ...
-
There's also dedicated copy stands, some including arms to hold lighting. The good ones are somewhat pricey; I don't know how good the inexpensive ones are.

The main thing is you'd want the axis of the lens to be perpendicular to the center of the cover (or spine). Once there, it would just be a matter of framing.
-
That's good to know. I'm still working on getting my lighting set up. Back in my lab tech days, I once had to print a 16x20 inch print from an approximately 7.5mm area of a "Silk Finish" print, ...

I wonder if a ring light would help with textured prints.

Another option would be to use a "Document Scanner", which looks and feeds like an inkjet printer, except it scans. I worked with one years ago and, as with you, had feed problems. That might be ...

There's always (until Canon runs out) the EF-S 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM plus mount adapter. While it looks large on my M6 mkII, it's still well-balanced, not front heavy.

I really like the tilt screen on the M6 mkII. Live view on a DSLR was always clunky. With mirrorless, I greatly prefer it over an eyepiece. Falls down in portrait orientation, though. You pretty ...

I have an old EF 28-135mm that's extremely loose. I read that there's not a lot you can do, except for rubber bands or tape around the lens barrel.
-
That's too bad. My oldest Canon lens, an EF 28-135mm, has IS that's so loud it's distracting in a quiet environment.
-
Not entirely serious here, but there's always these .

How about a golf rangefinder?

Were you by any chance wearing polarizing sunglasses?

That's a reason why I went with the LeoFoto, but also because theirs are available in a range of sizes. I got a few sets of the 55mm for swapping out heads and tripods. Of course, as Ellis pointed ...
-
Another possibility would be using an Arca-Swiss Quick-link (or the lower-priced LeoFoto clone) quick release, which has set screws top and bottom.

I bought one new a few months ago, and it does indeed have all those 'new' features. It's taller than my forty year old Manfrotto studio tripod, but I can actually carry it around. I love it! One ...

The problem is those set screws are near the edge of a 75mm diameter top plate, but most heads have a 55mm base.

I used an idea I saw on a video, with two light stands with a boom arm between them, and hardware to suspend the camera from that. I needed some new light stands anyway.
-
Is that diagonal arm have any sort of stiffener on the top side?
