l92: In my country it's double the price. For a slightly higher res sensor, and 10bit video. No thanks.
(Before you attack, I know there are other minor improvements, but I don't care about those)

He cares about the price, improvements are not important to him.

catlyn: I imagine that in the next five years, there will be phones sporting a large sensor and a large periscope optical zoom lens (and maybe an ultrawide camera). And with image quality close to what a 1" sensor compact camera can deliver.

@Operon when it comes to size, every inch counts.

BrentSchumer: I'm done spending more than $400 on a smartphone. Software obsoletes every offering within a few years, and I don't need top speed or a good camera.

cool story :)

Good lucking with fitting that in your pocket. Don't forget the 12-100 Lens.

tedolf: None. They are all too expensive.

For what these cost you can get a compact ILC.

Tedolph

Unfortunately there aren't any ILC that can fit in your pocket with any 24-200mm lens.

(unknown member): I get SO tired of hearing people talk about how expensive the new Mark 6 is. If it's TOO expensive for you, move on and don't buy it.

Most people spend $800 - $1000 on a new IPhone every year and never bat an eye, but a well built pocket camera with a tilt touch screen, a 1" sensor and great zoom is considered almost insulting?

I bought it and it's a great camera that does most things I need it to do without me having to drag a ton of gear around.

Is it full frame awesome? No....

Does it claim to be? No....

Base your opinions on the facts of how it performs

Agreed, and that is why Sydney is still carrying mark 1 all the way. So within a price range of everyone I guess.

Matz03: I really want to like Sony and the A7 options, but news like this further proves to me that sony is an electronics company and treat the camera market like they are TVs. So now there are 4 FE bodies, rumors of another PRO body in a month and how many native FE lenses? 5? 6?

On another note, a year from now there should be some more lens options and used A7 bodies to be had for $500 looks rather appealing.

You are forgetting that there are hundreds of non native lenses available for this Camera. That is why many people are interested.

How does the video compare to RX100 III? That could be a deciding factor for those who value video.

agentul: " It offers a 24-80mm equivalent range, is dust-, splash- and freeze-proof,"

allow me to be the first to say that not only is this lens only equivalent to a f5.6 on a FF camera, it is also only equivalent to sand, sprinkle and cold-proof as well. blah-blah-blah the upcoming cheap FF compacts will be the end of m4/3, blah-blah-blah.

You are fooling yourself with that statement, "it's f5.6 on FF" but it's not designed for FF it's a m43 lens and it's f2.8 no matter how you bang your head.

Imaging-resource says that (and is said to be a full stop more sensitive). That is very impressive.

If the 40% sensitivity increase is proven to be correct, this camera will surely shine. I mean we are talking about it matching m43 image quality.

Very impressive, I believe Sony has got a winner here again, I am probably going to replace my LX5.
