About me:

Finally made the switch from Leica system to after 35 years. Now Leica produces a decent digicam...go figure. I've also added Fuji X equipment to my bag. Incredible cameras. I do documentary conservation photography and landscapes. I use Canon and Fuji equipment mostly exclusively now, with a variety of lenses for both. The little Leica is great for social events when I don't want to carry a bag.

Interesting images, HDR or not, but they for the most part set up photos. No one leaves that many artifacts in unoccupied properties. That should have been admitted.

A great information service. Thanks guys. It helps me strain out the best alternative to PS. GIMP comes in close. Aperture looks adequate, maybe even Elements...although I'm not all that excited about giving Adobe anymore money.

DPR, a previous comment on this string, commented that perhaps you should unhook yourself from a perceived marriage with Adobe. While this may or may not be true, you are a large enough presence on the photography scene that you should express your views on this, More than merely posting a survey for members to rant on. You are big enough for Adobe to pay attention to you, unless they are underwriting you in some manner. PP is an important part of digital photography. Perhaps it is time for you to pay more attention to ALL digital software. I would personally enjoy any reviews, particularly now, in light of what Adobe has done to their advanced and amateur customers.

No problem for me. I just ordered Aperture and started to familiarize myself with it. As an advanced amateur, I don't need all of the power tools in PS. And Elements really seems only for beginners. I started with PS v3 and upgraded myself through CS 5. No more. Aperture will be fine until I explore the other options out there. What a shame...

On article Photographer turns camera on teenage 'freighthoppers' (186 comments in total)

It's not the camera...who cares? If you have ever worked with runaways, you would understand most of their stories are horrific. They are NOT LOSERS. They are kids trying to survive, with emotional or mental issues, abuse or other maltreatment. They are hard to look at (the photos) as they represent a component of hidden America. I applaud Mike Brodie for taking and posting them. It makes us look at a piece of our culture we try to ignore. I understand why he probably put his camera down. Engaging in the pain is more than most can handle. Thank you Mr. Brodie. Tough post for a camera enthusiast site.

Fuji bias. What's wrong with the X10 in your view? A stellar camera.

Kwick1: I don't know how to quantify this. The High ISO samples look good, but all of the samples look very "digital", with bland colors, low contrast, etc. I didn't find them appealling at all compared to any of the Olympus cam JPGs or the Fuji X100.

Outstanding Joe! I guess none of us know how to take images that people like. 40 years of using Leica and Canon with high resolution and contrast has yielded many sellable results. Guess I won't poke my eyes out yet...

No mention on dpreview news - it's not a Canon I guess!

These comments aren't relevant on this site. They should be on the Fuji site. Besides not everyone uses LV in composing images.
