Quarkcharmed: How much manipulation was allowed? I'm not sure about #5 Starry Night. The stars should have left relatively long trails after the 45s exposure. Anyway, this one or trapped salamanders should have won.

Maybe it's because the images here are very low res. 15mm at 45s will have visible star trails. Also, the image is likely cropped, so the apparent focal length will be longer.

Edit: ok on the competition website the images are of slightly higher quality and the star trails are visible.

nathantw: There better be two card slots or they'll need to deal with the wrath of the dpreview community.

No need for memory cards. It'll post directly to Instagram. Modern telescopes must be well integrated with social media.

On article Sony a7R IV added to studio test scene comparison (439 comments in total)

Skin tones aside, I'm hugely surprised the A7RIV's raw files are more noisy than A7RIII's, even after normalising in Comp mode.

I was seriously considering switching to Sony, but now, in terms of the IQ, A7RIII looks superior. Actually my Canon 5DIV looks on par with A7RIV in terms of the noise. Yes it lags in other areas and I do want to upgrade but it looks like Canon isn't lagging that far from Sony in terms of the noise and DR.
