Why not have a 'video mode' switch? Remember that the UI is still the Canon UI, just pared down for video or photo use, rather than being both at the same time. Wouldn't that appeal to folks that...

'Stacked CMOS sensors' - you are asking for a technology when what you need is any technology that provides the benefits that you perceive as being innate to that technology.

Better photography has been enabled through features that make for better video, and vice-versa. Having both brings an economy of scale, both in terms of development as well as production. Also...

Shutter angle is perhaps a low-effort / low-impact thing, and could additionally be toggleable for those that would prefer shutter speed in video for whatever reason. 32-bit Float can make sense -...

If they're shooting Canon, they don't have to re-buy anything - including batteries, most of which are updated versions of those used in Canon DSLRs. And this is true for both Canon mirrorless mounts.

It's just that one extra bit of flexibility; thing is, I can adapt lenses with stabilization, and this lens would be a replacement for that capability. For stills, and for video.
-
Was thinking the same thing - though lacking OS might be a deal-breaker.

Yeah, RF would be a better comparison I agree; though I will point out that EF-S lenses still work well on full-frame RF cameras with Canon's own adapter, and even work on Canon full-frame DSLRs if...

Kind of like how Canon used 'EF-S' for their crop lenses, but no one else did? Same kind of problem....

Not saying 'don't use Gnome', use what works for you! Just not interested in using Ubuntu more than absolutely necessary. Use another Debian spin instead.

I checked Digikam out on Fedora 36 (latest), using the KDE desktop - Fedora had the older 7.6.0 version in their repo as of a day ago. The downloaded version is in the form of an appimage, which...

It's a KDE app, so Gnome support would likely be... sketchy? I'd bet that it runs well on Plasma! (and if you're using Ubuntu, well, stop, unless forced to by your employer...)
-
That would be x86-64 - no 32-bit support either, though that's unsurprising in a content-creation app.
-
I don't recall such an incident - do you have a link?

It's odd because the EF protocol works on RF - so while Laowa may not have been able to implement a native RF coupling, they could have simply used EF coupling. And then you'd have aperture...

The 100/2.8 2x lens for Canon EF does have electronic aperture - which makes the absence somewhat odd here. Owning the 100/2.8 2x for EF, well, I see this lens as a bit of a regression. Could be...

Because I can? Talking everything from formal business meetings, to family chats to teaching children to streaming... whatever. Lot of flexibility on tap.

This isn't a specialist camera. Not the way the 7D / 7D II were, at least. The R7 is much more a generalist camera with quite a few professional as well as video trappings on top of speed....
-
The superzoom (18-150) is likely to be... usable throughout its range, and that's about it. With good correction, like Canon's DLO, it can produce a decent result, and the utility of the range...

A 'true' 7D mirrorless camera would be an R5, but with this sensor, a la the 7DII and 5D III. It'd be even more expensive, and would make the level of technology and the featureset on tap even...
