Every tome i try to catch a sitting bird as it takes off to fly, the pictures go out of focus as the bird flies off. ANy solution to this problem?

I have been able to catch such moments of a bird on the ground, but as soon as the bird takes off and flies, all photos go out of focus. I tried all autofocus mode and found no remedy. Any thoughts?
