Are you actually using the new 50/2.8 macro? How do you assess the slowness of AF that seems to bother others?

Thanks Brian, for a great effort. You must be overwhelmed  by suggestions from frustrated users by now. It will be interesting to see if and how Sony might respond.

I had the 10-18 for a while on the A7R. Itwas great at 14 to 16 mm on FF. And it should be perfect on th 6500.

Thanks for a first report. I have the same interest in a wold-around lens  with macro capability. Now I will wait to see if focusing will be improved. Best

Canon EF 24-70 /f: 4 with MB 4. Very good as a walk-around lens (with Macro). But very heavy. Canon EF 70-200/ f: 4 IS  with MB4. Extremely sharp, fast focus. I also still have EF 50/ 1.4 and EF 85 ...

I have the Canon 24-70/F4 on my A7RII with the Metabones IV T Adapter. It is excellent, sharp across the field wide open and less expensive than the FE F4. But it is heavy as a walk-about lens.
