dmurphey: I used Elinchrom for many years. I started with the 1100ws Ranger series and moved to the 400ws Quadra. They make awesome packs and lights!

When my Quadra broke last year, I replaced it with a budget Godox AD600. I was quite surprised as to how well it preformed. It's not built as well as Elinchrom, but it's 1/3 of the price. Not sure where Elinchrom is getting the claim of "most powerful". The newer AD600Pro is TTL at 600ws.

If my understanding is correct, it does not have HS (as of ELB 400). It gets its high-sync capabilities using the HSS instead.

IdM photography: They state the "Most Powerful Portable TTL Light"... Maybe the monolights are excluded in their statement... Monolights are transportable, not really "portable"...

No, monolights are imo not excluded. What does have total strobe power output in common with the ability to provide enough of power output in certain situation? Nothing. It is about the HSS and how it is implemented. Compare the power output of Profotos at certain shutter speeds to ELB 500. There's the answer to the claim ...

What does it mean - TTL at 600ws? There is no such a thing imo. TTL is just a protocol. If we are talking about high speed sync, the technique is represented by HSS. HSS means fast consecutive strobe emmition, making it mostly a continous light for a short period of time. And HSS implementations differ. ELB500 HSS gives almost identical light output to ELB400 using HS. How much gives AD600? How much Profoto B1, etc? That should be compared.

T3: Would it kill Canon to put some kind of modest grip on this thing? I see this as the Canon equivalent of the Sony A5100. But the A5100 has a decent grip to hook your fingers around.

Product segmentation. This is the lowest line. You want a grip? Look for an M6 then.

pekr: We kind of got used to Canon ignoring 4K video. Well, no slow mo 120 fps FullHD video either. But now - no tilting external EVF is pretty much embarrassing and it mostly kills it for me ...

Can't you understand the written words, or can you? Your reaction does not make absolutly any sense. M5 does not have tilting EVF. I am talking exactly about that - buying an external EVF, the new version, which fits the design of the new camera. They just removed its ability to tilt.

Dpreview just won the idiocy and a cry baby award. Unbelievable serious review site like dpreview uses "Big disappointment" in its article header, whereas the shooting community, while acknowledging new camera possible deficiencies, feels quite opposite or at least relaxed by what M5 offers ...

pekr: So non impressive tracking abilities, apart from DPAF (Live View). And yet no swivel LCD screen. And Canon claims, they listen to their audience? So we've been waiting 4 years to get this? If the 6D II does not see the swivel screen, we will better wait fro 90D or get much cheaper 80D.

@cbphoto123 Go and return to the stone age. Go tell Nikon and others, they are stupid enough, to include one. (no sarcasm)

MisterPootieCat: Why would Canon offer such an improved version of DPP and limit it to just 4 pro camera bodies? I'm hoping the list of supported cameras will grow over time, it took a couple years for the DLO modules (lens correction) to be released for the earlier versions of DPP.

Uh, I did not expect that. If that is really true, I kind of don't understand this kind of an "upgrade" :-)

I think that what article says is, that it adds support for those 4 above mentioned cameras, not that it only support those cameras?

Any comparison to Bibble? I always liked Bibble, but now I somehow lost confidence once they were bought by Corel :-)
