@Teila Day,
I am in plain English going to wish you again a happy new year. And not also not going to answer you your question. You just have to go back and reread everything.
I am also in in Plain English telling you that, this is a place of debate with good manners.
And also in plain English, Bye bye.

Actually not liking something and moving to something else ARE democracy and freedom in action. DPR can do what they want. They have all the right. So did Kodak, Blockbusters And Nokia.

DPR doing reviews for grand publics. Some will love it. Some won't.

On final note. If all the images look near identical because of manufacturers automatic corrections, then you don't need to review any lenses on regular basis. It's just going to be a occasional thing.

Isn't it bad for business?

Macro guy: If you're not goimg to publish lens results with uncorrected data, there is no point in reviewing lenses. As the software gets better, all lenses wilk be pretty much the same. Lens correction in effect is smoke and mirrors allowing manufacurers to produce sub par optics and using the software to mask lens deficiencies.

Exactly.

Sourov: So... The manufacture can build less quality optics and still charge more.
You can't see a difference because they are all corrected digitally.

@Richard Butler
.

" What we're worried about is the final result, because that's what you're paying for, however it's achieved."

What!
No , not at all. We are not JUST paying for the final image or final result. If that was true, we would stop paying big bucks for old Nikkor, or Canon FD or Leica lenses in 2022. We are paying for the work of art of these old glasses, their looks, characters, style and as a collectors item.
If final result was the ultimate goal via software correction, then Arri Alexa would not build cinema lenses with nearly perfect optics which cost 50 plus grands.
We are paying big bucks for lenses so that , even after 20plus years later, the optical performance remain optimal.

We are paying big bucks for both, Image quality and great optics.
Hire back that person who were doing technical reviews of the lenses in DPReview. I know he/she costs too much. Because it's well deserved.

It's not independent anymore. Is it?

Lenses? Huh. What was wrong with a pinhole? What was wrong with daubing representations of warthogs on cave walls with mastodon dung?

Let's stick with the old methods."

You are trying really hard to say something ironic.

May be you could just avoid these comments and move on. Nobody was pointing fingers at you.

@Chris2210,
There explanations are just some excuses to work less.
Welcome to the world of Video where, the photography is the 2nd priority.
So, old method is still very and even more relevant.
You have to also keep up.

@TorsteinH,
Using manufacturers correction is like saying all the politicians are saints. They never lie or hide things from public. And MacDonald is good for health.
