The 50-230 is one of the best value lenses out there in my opinion.

i was actually thinking about that but more like 70-300 and a 90 f2 but getting rid of 50-140 and 16-80. Just want to see more real world reviews of the 70-300 if its worth it.

cant agree more. and i feel the same way about my 35 1.4, ive had so many lenses that come and go and 35 stays with me all the time.

True, i know that i don't need the fast primes for my shooting style but sometimes we look for something we dont have lol

I'm all for the shorter version but still wants an internal zoom, just not a big fan of lenses with external zoom

This is my current kit and has been for the last couple months. Does the job that its supposed to do but i do sometimes miss my primes. anyone in the same boat as me? Just an open discussion i guess.

I think you made the right choice. i would've gone with the x100f if it will be a second body not if it will replace your xt30.

You couldnt have said it better, different stuff works for different individuals. I think OP is much better to just rent one first or buy used instead of shelling out $900 for the lens.
