Yes, I think it is going to be a rather useful feature, since the halos aren't a camera thing. The raw image is nice and clean, so it's particularly nice for when you don't have an ND filter handy.

Thanks. The halos aren't supposed to be there in the first place, so I'm going to get rid of them once I figure out what caused them.  I just haven't had time since I'm at a conference this weekend.

Argh. I think it's a compression artifact, but I'm not sure yet what did it. I used Exposure as the DAM, but I edited it in Topaz Adjust, then exported it from Exposure. The original doesn't show ...

Mukilteo Lighthouse Park sunset This was one of my first fp shots. I wanted to soften the water more than just stopping down would allow and didn't have my ND kit with me (partly due to not having ...
  • I know mainframes won't go anywhere... but IBM I'm not so sure of. It's no longer the company you can't fired for choosing after the Disney datacenter debacle, among others... But either way, the ...
  • Especially with mainframes... though that market has tanked pretty hard lately also. I'm sure IBM's apparently spectacular incompetence of late isn't helping... I have TB3 also, but I don't have ...
  • Only it wasn't really industry leading... Apple's special sauce has almost invariably involved taking credit for other companies' inventions. And Apple didn't even create FireWire... :) FireWire ...
  • Back then I was mostly doing CG, and Apple hadn't moved off of the router platform yet (G4 processors were made primarily for routers and ATM switches, not computers)... I got a mac when I started ...
  • Well, that's HIS favorite combination. That doesn't mean that it's the BEST -- because other people will have different shooting styles from his, and his choice of lenses may not be ideal for ...
  • We had 24 shoot days. It adds up -- and we weren't shooting 4K, we were shooting 8K, in a 16-bit codec. That film was done on the cheap with a budget of around $100K. And one copy isn't even ...
  • There's been a lot of that sort of nit picking. It's pretty pointless, because the flexibility in grade and the final image matter a lot more... if you actually USE the camera. Again, use your ...
  • There's nothing wishful about it. cDNG isn't actually a selling point, even though raw is. Companies don't choose cDNG because it's a good idea, it's because it's the easiest starting format. It ...
  • There is support for other cameras in the works. Which part of "Black Magic is killing off cDNG" did you not understand? All of its cDNG cameras are out of production models, leaving Sigma as the ...
  • No, you're way behind here. Black Magic is killing off cDNG in favor of its far more efficient Black Magic Raw format, which is clip based and a lot less unwieldy than cDNG. It's also due to its ...
  • Make sure that you use the correct frame rates in the timeline settings and in the deliver settings. If you're recording in what the fp pretends is 24, then you need to use 23.98 in both. I haven't ...
  • Ah, that's a bummer... Yes, that's cDNG. It's basically just DNG in an image sequence... spectacularly inefficient. :) Go to the deliver page, export them as ProRes, and Bob's your uncle. (Bob must ...
  • If they're Thunderbolt 3, they're the same connector. TB3 is a superset of USB-C. Try DaVinci Resolve -- the free version will do the trick. It handles cDNG well, far better than Premiere. When I ...
  • Agreed -- that was also a pleasant surprise. And it's still pretty compact even with the lens hood on. Now if only the lens cap were captive... I haven't taken the camera out of manual since I set ...
  • I sold my Leica m7 when I realized that my Nikon fm3a was almost exactly the same size... but I could shoot macros and use nice long lenses on my Nikon that I couldn't with the Leica... and I was ...
  • I'm actually rather fond of that little lens already, mainly because it's both compact and includes a focus AND aperture ring. I really like manual lenses... though I also like the fact that you ...
