flektogon: Another thing I noticed is that the OOC JPEG pictures are consistently better than the RAW pictures. Are the RAW pictures shown (deliberately) unprocessed? Otherwise I have no explanation.

that’s nice @karroly

and I think a camera should be able to take the pictures you want to take quickly and reliably and the default is irrelevant

Man am I glad I didn't for the dull colors or maybe I should be lucky to not live in Seatle...

and thats what the jpegs presets are for. (this might not have been shot at 'std'), which the GR has many of and are further individually customizable

@karroly

in my opinion image 8 is vastly superior to image 7, but that's subjective and its great that this camera can do both

P10004K: If I wanted a pocket sized camera to carry with my 256GB iPhone XR in that price range I would get for the Sony RX100 VA with 4K, EVF and fast F1.8=2.8 24-70mm Zeiss zoom if I did not want to carry my compact full frame Sony a7r with 35mm Zeiss.

yes and that’s why his comparison doesn’t apply at all. even body-only it’s not fitting in anybody’s front pocket. you’re holding it, not carrying it. might as well be a hassleblad at that point

i have an RX100x too and the IQ at all ISOs and ergonomics difference of the GRIII is night and day

why haven’t you done the RX100 vs the GRIII at ISO6400?

you comparing a front pocket cam with a FF ILC is totally meaningless

(unknown member): What confuses me, is that Ricoh had all this time to get the GR III right, and it feels like it was rushed to market honestly. There's room for a small optical viewfinder, I'm sure their engineers could have made that work even with the camera staying the size of the GR II, along with including a flash still.

why not a FF 24-200 f1.4 zoom with an EVF and tilt screen, surely they can fit that into something the size of the GR. just no flash.

yep. vision.

wait, GR owners are here sounding positive about a positive sounding review..

the long-lived GR concept that *you* are here resisting has always been about a 28mm prime lens, and you're here talking about 5x zooms lenses..

tell us more about the culture negativity here, you seem to be an expert

you mean the Fuji's with 2/3" sensors that still didn't fit in a pocket?

that 200mm lens attached to a phone is hilarious

your obsession with zooms and lenses proves just how much you miss the point here. this is for photographers who don’t want to show off their hardware

who are your trying to impress with all your obnoxious gear? we get it, you carry a big lens

for someone who likes to compare sensor size and ISOs, you really overestimate your 12mp XR with a 24mp APS-C sensor in your pocket.

and if you’re here for video why did you even click on this review? they themselves didn’t even bother. much less comment

i fear you’re very much in the wrong place
