Just adding for fairness, as the DPR article only references NASA: "The James Webb Space Telescope is an international collaboration among NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), and the Canadian...

I will keep my 500mm PF, at least for a while to assess how much I will use it once I get the 800. My expectation is that there will be many occasions when I will pick up the 500, because it is ...

It has been on sale (preorder) for 3 weeks now. Of course it's not going to be a kit lens, but this indicates the demand is high, especially for a niche focal lenght.

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1679311-REG/nikon_nikkor_z_800mm_f_6_3.html BHP shows the 800mm PF as the #1 seller. What does this mean? Is it the best seller among all products within the ...

Can someone post a link with an explanation as to why sagittal and meridional resolutions of a lens are different? The lens it symmetric along its axe, you can rotate it by 90 degrees and it ...

It is really confusing as later they say lines / mm and indicate the same on the image. "In general, the higher and flatter the lines the better. Higher lines indicate better contrast (10 lines/mm) ...

It seems from this explanation that Nikon use / mean lines for the lower resolution and line pairs for the higher (30) resolution. Basically they are showing 20 lines and 30 lines. https://www.niko ...

We need a spherical test subject that has its center in the middle of the sensor and the distance from the center to the surface is constant. Obviously you are limited to a fixed subject distance ...

So, Lens B can be better than Lens A, but what about Lance B? :))

Got it, thanks. If lens A has a better MTF chart for 30 lines / mm than lens B, is it possible for B to perform better at 120 lines/mm?

Hi Jim, how shall we interpret your note? Are 8 pixels more than enough to draw a line (i.e. you can draw a line with just 2 pixels width and this is a more ambitious test) or do we need more ...

I downloaded from the USA Nikon website.

I upgraded the FW on my Z6 ii and still looking forward to test it. I never had issues with eye AF before, so reading the above suggests Nikon improved a feature that already worked great (for ...

It depends on the subjects and how fast their movement is. If the subject is static I decrease the shutter speed by 3-4 stops vs. the 1/focal lenght or even more. I shoot bursts to increase ...

Be patient, the Z6 ii is a fine camera if you are OK with its resolution. I am sure there will be a camera positioned between the Z6/7 ii and Z9 with stacked sensor and improved AF, but smaller ...

For sure, the question is whether you would notify it just looking at the picture. There are MTF graphs in review, comparing the two 800mm and Z 400mm with TC https://www.cameralabs.com/nikon-z-800 ...

Get the 1.4 if you can. I have both (version iiii), but AF really suffers on Z6 ii. Lots of hunting and manual override of the AF to find the distance. The IQ itself is fine. How do you plan using it?

No. I took this today. It was an overcast day, ISO 1100, 1/60s, f5.6. 1/1600s at f/8 is 6.5 stops away, drives ISO above 32000.
