I’ve shot weddings for 23 years, but the new led lighting that venues are changing to has only started to cause us problems in the last few years. Even using DSLR and mechanical shutters that ...

I don’t have any information to back this, but I notice that some Sony cameras are more affected by efcs ruinous bokeh than others. My A7III was atrocious, and I simply couldn’t stand the look of ...

Definitely return that lens. I’ve had many sigma lenses, and unfortunately they almost all developed debris inside. If this lens already has this much from the start, I can only imagine it’ll get ...

Photo Mechanic was hailed almost universally as an irreplaceable part of many photographer's workflows for almost two decades... I say WAS because they just announced that they're switching to...
-
Well it did solve this particular venue, it does still have problems at some other venues. It’s sometimes just a matter of minimizing the effect as much as possible rather than eliminating it ...

Congrats on the 📷. There’s no real difference between activating eye AF via a button vs automatically. In the early firmware the A7III required a button for eye AF, but Sony realized that most ...
-
The phase detection layout has nothing to do with global shutter. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say I confidently doubt that the A9III has cross type AF. If it did, Sony would have made ...

Well, just to update on this, on Saturday we were back at the venue that gave us the worst problems with pwm lighting 5 years ago, and I have to say that our A1’s didn’t have any of the problems ...

To be fair, extended iso is not a Sony exclusive thing. All cameras do this. In fact, Sony is one of the only mfgs that doesn’t bake in nr at higher extended iso ranges.
-
That’s not the way it works. Base iso is base iso; not extended. The A74 has a base iso of 100 and max shutter speed of 1/8000 sec. The A9III can drop to iso125 if you’re including extended, but ...

Yeah I really only chose it because of the size and weight, as it almost never gets used. Just need something that can hide in my camera bag in case my A1 goes down (hasn’t happened yet, touch wood!).

I already posted my Instagram and website here earlier. Most of our work is shot this way. You’re free to peruse

So I actually have a duality when it comes to image sharpness and pixel-peeping iq... In my studio we deliver the full colour version of couple's wedding images, but we also provide a B&W film look ...

This is helpful. I didn’t like the idea of rolling with two bodies, but it might be the way to go. I do have a backup body; I keep the A7C with me in case anything goes awry with my A1, but it ...

This feels like a mocking of my work. I’m sorry if I’m wrong here, but it feels like you guys are belittling my style and techniques. I thought as professionals here we were a bit more supportive ...
-
Hey thanks! We actually deliver everything in full colour and in our black and white film look. I had an obsession with making my raw files look convincingly like Tri-X or Eastman double X and ...

Not just okay with it, they love it. I don’t do group shots at 1.8, I do them at f1.2. Good thing you’re not my client I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Tried it, and it looks fake and not for me. Or, I can just ...

Like I said previously, we do our own thing, and we don’t call it videography. it’s something that we offer and it works for us and is very popular, so I don’t really need you to understand. In a ...

That was literally the only reason I went from A7III to A9, then A1. I love my fat apertures and bokeh they give.

Yeah that’s a great question. It actually just comes down to me not wanting to add the hassle of removing my lens protector filter, packing it away in a protective case, screwing on the nd, and ...
