Yip. I should have said "for close up work" not "macro". I have not used the flash myself, but noticed it in the m43 forum. Their 60mn lens is so small it does not interfere with the flash. They ...

What Leonard said. In addition to the Nikon flashes, if you look for a small flash, there is a Meike flash about the size of a SB400, with tiltable head which goes to -7 degrees for macro work. Jus ...

I've been hiking all over the place with mine. I guess I have not read the rule book.

For a hiking camera, I would suggest you also have a look at the Pen F, as it is relatively small and light. It has a focus bracket option, and 20 mp. It is not a fast action camera.
-
I kept my Pen F for casual photos and my Nikon for 'serious' work. I recently got a Olympus 300 and 40-150 second hand with the argument that this will be more compact in the field than full frame ...

Orchid, Z7. Set in camera stack to 0.5, and number of stacks to 100, for no particular reason, just first time try. The lens was set to max opening, which is about f4.5 at 1:1 magnification. Looks ...

I liked using tubes with the Panasonic 35-100. Almost like using a macro lens. I have not yet tested them with the 40-150 2.8, but that lens is often used for close-ups as others mentioned already.

I got a 1.4 converter eventually, and decided this morning to try fitting it on my Kenko tubes. The good news is that the tubes have just barely enough clearance. The converter touches the inside ...

I have had Nikon D200, D800E and Z7. Also had PenF, Omd em1, and em5, as well as panasonic gf1 and gx1. The most visible difference between FF and m43 is dynamic range. So in challenging light, the ...

Thanks, Bill. Good advice. I did not mention rechargables. At that time, only one brand of rechargables was available to me, and lasted only a few recharges. I think nowadays better brands should ...

I purchased one shortly after they were released, and started my macro interest with them. I think they still show in my profile picture. Firstly, the positive: Since you can place the flashes ...

Thanks, I was unable to find 3rd party collars as well. The link is for the Canon 300, but I'll keep an eye on the 100-400 as well for a collar, as John suggested.
-
Thanks for the advice, John, appreciated. Good to know the 100-400 has the same collar.

Hi I purchased a second-hand 300 F4 PRO and it only has the so-called "decorative" ring. I would now like to purchase a replacement tripod collar. I found none here in South Africa where I live, ...

LOL, that settles it then. Interesting that Nikon omitted it under 'viewfinder accessories' , page 417 of the z7 manual.
-
I think camera manufacturers assume you will use a LCD hood loupe in that case.
-
Perhaps I state the obvious, but the rear screen can tilt upwards, and can be used instead, unless you have a very specific need for this accessory. The right angle viewfinder was useful with film ...
