  • Created discussion thread Raw
How does one get editable raw output from an iPad or iPhone? I use Photos and Raw Power on the iMac to edit my Nikon DSLR’s raw files, but haven’t explored obtaining the raw files from my other ...

Your D7000 sample is sharper and has just slightly more noise that I don't find bothersome at all. The phone sample appears very slightly smeared.  I don't know whether it's from lack of acutance, ...
  • I’m laughing! Thanks for speaking it.

  • Replied in My, Yes!
I just read that it's somewhat better. A new interface, and faster. Not sure I want to go through it all again.
  • Replied in Brilliant! +1
Whatever sort of lens gave you the 700mm? Just brilliantly done.
  • Replied in My, Yes!
WiFi would be a much better bet. The Bluetooth and SnapBridge combination has raised the ire in a lot of us. I gave up on it with my D3400/iPhone pairing. Only small jpegs worked. Otherwise I ...
  • Replied in One Throwaway
I only remember throwing one lens in the landfill in the past thirty years, and it was last week. A $69 Yongnuo lens was so utterly diabolical in both AF and yes, MF unpredictability, that I ...
  • I agree with everything said so far. It's possible to actually feel the air movement generated by your lens, if it isn't of the internal focusing type (if it extends and collapses as you zoom). ...

  • Check out the AF specs. D5600 might be quite a bit better in that dept.
  • Replied in Ask Moti
the moderator Moti is probably the best source for what works on what. I’m aware of a flange problem for some lenses on lower specified D3_ _ _ Series bodies. They purportedly could do damage.
  • From my little iPhone SE the second one looks nicer.
  • My digital odyssey closely paralleled yours. I should add those earliest cameras to the previous gear list.
  • Replied in Asinine
Sounds like you’re in a good place.

I wasn’t far behind you. Voigtlander Vito C. Gossen Super Pilot. Wet processed film and enlargements. Drum print dryer. Mounting and framing. Hours in a print. Now, raw files and then everything on ...
  • Replied in Asinine
I've made thousands of dollars in photography. Nobody ever asked if I could set my camera manually. Nor would they now. That's just asinine. People pay for images because they want them. I'm tired ...
  • I’ve bounced back and forth numerous times with this dilemma, and like the APS-C DSLR kit best, even when cropping. I must say, for comparative image quality it depends on which specific small ...
  • Replied in Bingo!
just a D3400 and two very light and compact kit lenses here. I’ve eaten more weight for lunch. And no one’s complaining about my images.
  • K stands for Kelvin, named after Lord Kelvin, the scientist who invented the method. A search will give you more info. I use K settings as a way to control WB more subtly than when using the ...
