AlfaGuy: FZ1000 vs FZ1000 II = NO compelling reason to upgrade. Basically the original FZ1000 was so bloody good when it came out, that it still holds its own nearly 5 years later!

Guimar, you are so right. I loved my first FZ1000 purchased in 2014..it's been to Europe twice. I used it so much that early this year I bought a new one (same model, much cheaper now) and sold my original still good FZ1000. 1"inch sensor and lens quality, ease of use, good zoom range.. I still love it. the FZ2500 lens with zoom but stayed in one position I thought that was odd.

User3137826464: Everyday I check for Canon EOS R in-depth review!! Can anyone tell me if DPR is planning on releasing one, and when?

Thank you for your reply! A large part of my excitement for the Eos R vs. Fujifilm X-T3, Sony A7R III, or Nikon Z7 is the 24-105 L series kit lens! It’s an L lens which for an enthusiast like me is a big deal. It may not be the deal maker for Professional photographers as they can easily stock up on prime lenses but it sure is for me~ also, video is only a secondary consideration, I've seen demos showing it was soft.

I've always wondered about dPreview's awards.. gold award for 79% score yet silver for 85% score.. I wish there was a link to an explanation for scoring and awards. btw I've relied on dPreview since I first purchased by first digital camera around 2001.

Robbie62: I note the comment at the end of this review that if your not into video then there are better options. Can anyone enlighten me. I intend to travel to Europe later in the year and was wanting a camera with a 400mm plus zoom and a good viewfinder?

No, my FZ1000 (3 yrs old by now) has never rattled. that's an odd symptom and if you do get it i'd return asap if it did. Personally, I love Nikon brand for SLR.. i will need to check the DL24-500 out. I always depend on dpreview.com for their reviews.

I purchased my FZ1000 before it even hit the stores in 2014, use it mainly for photos.. fine Jpegs, not raw. it is fast and gorgeous which becomes more imperative when on tour. it also takes excellent 4k video. i take it from these reviews that consensus is the lens is still better quality than the FZ2000/2500. Happy to hear this because it's still my go-to tour camera. I think the lens zooming out permanently while turned on will bother me. went to Europe 2x last year. Also purchased the ZS100 which has same 1" sensor in a smaller package, and the Nikon P900 just for it's extreme zoom but can't beat the image quality of the z1000. links to some of the Europe photos and 1 video.

mqavila: After much consideration, I'm planning on ordering this camera. The comment that it's a bit slippery and hard to hold is a concern though. Anyone recommend an aftermarket grip that would be good for this camera (both functionally and aesthetically)?

hi mqavila, i got a rubber grip from Amazon, Flipbac FBG3 Camera Grip for Point & Shoot Digital Cameras and it helps a lot, it also looks like its part of the camera. it's $10.85 and it's the perfect size. here's the link:

sdh: Two thoughts here:

1) Can the reviewer(s) comment on how this camera's AF performance with moving subjects compares to the well-regarded embedded-phase-sensor systems in Sony's recent Alpha models?

2) To Panasonic: Why On Earth do you not equip this otherwise seemingly-excellent camera with a rubber handgrip!?!?

i certainly agree about 2). i purchased a Flipbac FBG3 Camera Grip to help it. also a leather case is coming: if one keeps the top off while in use, the lower piece will help with the grip i am hoping. it may or may not fit well.

AlexisTecnico: I have the FZ100. But I want something pocket size like ZS100. Worth the change?

i have both. Large sensor and specs convinced me to pre-order the ZS100 .. keeping my FZ1000~ it's my favorite, and it's a super-zoom! it's convenient just lugging the little one for everyday, and it whips out quick for videos!. taking both to Europe in May and again in September. just love the people photos the FZ1000 takes.

i own the Panasonic Lumix FZ1000, DPreview gave it an 82% rating. In my opinion has awesome image quality of just about all my photos! I am a big superzoom fan and this by far is the happiest i've been with one. I see that DigitalJerry is happy with his as well.
