Lars Lentz: I've used ColorEfex Pro for a long time and it is a great tool. I haven't been able to replicate the same effects with On1, DxO, Lightroom, or AlienSkin products. Happy to see the Nik Collection free for all. Not going to be happy if they don't keep supporting the products with updates.

My opinion is that Gimp is not good enough of a photo editing program for me. I've used it and it does not provide the look that I am after for my images. All your posts are not doing anything for me or my opinion.

The video-specific items make this a camera I would definitely buy.

I am not "hating" on GIMP and I do respect your opinion.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion as am I. I'd like to leave it at that. Thanks.

I have tried Gimp and lots of other free or open source software. They don't come anywhere close to the capabilities of DxO Optics Pro or Nik Color Efex Pro.

This is a great little camera that works well for me. I don't have to be too careful with it as it can get wet, dirty, and take a drop or two. The panoramic stitching mode doesn't work so well, but everything else is excellent. The video is really quite good too and not mentioned much in reviews. I prefer it to a GoPro. Another winning feature is the battery life. The battery lasts a long, long time in this camera. I can go all day with one fully charged battery.

The TG-4 is excellent for any tropical vacation. No worries about water and sand. Plus it takes great underwater photos!

I noticed that some third party plugins were affected also. Some no longer work.

On article Sigma 10-20mm 1:4-5.6 EX DC HSM review (9 comments in total)

I use this lens quite often on my Canon APS-C camera and it gives great results. At a 16-32 mm equivalent to the full frame camera versions, this lens lets me compose wide angle shots that are sometimes limited on APS-C cameras. Build quality is excellent and the compact design fits well in my case. The softness, aberration, and distortion is not as pronounced as you may think it is from the article, so I would not disqualify this lens based on that.

On article Should You Use a UV Filter on Your Lens? (59 comments in total)

I have tried it both ways, with a filter and without. I am now leaning toward not using a filter for lens protection. I found that I get more ghost images and miss more shots when I have a protective filter, even of great quality, on my lens.

On article Sigma 18-35mm F1.8 DC HSM Review (362 comments in total)

This is an excellent lens. I've been using it for a month now and it really allows me to get shots I wouldn't have been able to before because of the F/1.8 capability. I don't normally shoot at f/1.8 but instead shoot at f/2.8 or higher to get the maximum sharpness from this lens. It is a little soft at f/1.8 as you would expect. Overall, a great lens. Super sharp.
