l_objectif: Are composites OK?
According to the rules, yes
RuthC: I am personally disappointed that the capture date limits us to photos taken this year. This type of image isn't one which is frequently seen, and I for one have shots taken prior to 2012, but cannot use them in this challenge. The Host's example was taken in 2006!
Dear RuthC,
I truly admire you both as a photographer and as a challenges’ host, and I’m sorry to know that this challenge’s rules disappointed you.
I understand the reasons of your comment/complaint: probably, for this specific challenge, I should have chosen a different kind of “capture data rule” (like, for instance, “no pictures entered in previous DPreview’s challenges”).
You know, it’s a tough job the host’s one… I’m still learning.
I will repeat this challenge in the near future, with the subject adjustment.
Hope you can understand.
Thank you
My best regards
Juanlucas
Magnifica...!
Just perfect! congratulations!
Le Kilt: A daring composition that works well, good shot !
Thank you :)
senn_b: magnificent compo and great lighting ..
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Shangri La: man.. I have the same camera but just cant make shots like this. How did you get the color tone like this?
Well, I just try to get the best from the picture itself... :)
Wonderful!! Congratulations, it's a fantastic image and a well-deserved winner!!
Fantastic! congratulations!!
Grazie, Vittorio :)
Un'altra grande prova, Maesto!
Well deserved winner! congrats!
Many thanks to Paulo Matos :)
Really a great job... well deserved winner, congratulations!
GeneralLee: I have the non-VC version of this lens - but I guess this doesn't count?
Sorry, only the version in title. Other versions of the same zoom lens have different characteristics as well as slightly different results, from a photographic point of view.
Pls remember: what we are looking here is not a picture of the biggest crowded city ever, but how we can perceive the mood/character of that city by looking at its people's expressions, behaviour, mood, etc...
Images by Kipper: I am sorry but I need a clarification here. You have in the challenge rules "Let's see some image taken INTO a church - pictures taken outside a church will be DQ." Do you mean 'Let's see some image taken INSIDE a church - pictures taken outside a church will be DQ.'? As one has to be outside a building to take a picture INTO the building, but by doing this you will be DQ. Am I missing something here. Thanks - Kipper.
Dear users,
thank you for your explanations and comments... it seems I need some extra English lesson :)
This challenge aims to collect pictures taken INSIDE a church.
Sorry everyone for the mistake.
Regards
I'm really sorry that I had to DQ a lot of beautiful pictures, because they didn't fit the rules of this challenge. Actually, it was clearly stated that "no panoramas/cityscapes" are allowed. The aim of this challenge - according to its title - is to show some DETAIL of a big city, not the whole city or its gblobal view.
Some other pictures, to me, are really "at the border", but in those cases I will let users express - through their votes - their opinion at this regard.
Thank you all for participating.
gerry328: Perhaps the host should define what is a "citiscape" which is not allowed under his rules.
Sorry for the mistake while typing (cityscape instead of citiscape...).
Well, according to Wikipedia: "A cityscape is the urban equivalent of a landscape".
The aim of this challenge is to focus on "details" of a big city instead of on a urban panorama.
liwi: a picture that recalls/suggests a single word ( e.g.photo of sun, word: heat) vs. a picture that directly illustrates a single word (e.g. photo of moon, word: moon)....can the host please confirm whether or not the latter is acceptable...if it is, then personally i would think we have 2 different themes in 1 challenge...thanks.
Dear liwi,
title (1 word) and picture have to be linked in some way. Voters should indifferently look at the picture or at its title and perceive the connection between them. In my opinion, there is no need to develope 2 different themes, but I'm of course available to propose 2 new challenges - in the future - regarding the issue you raised up. So far I have seen many interesting pictures, and I hope users are enjoying this challenge the way it is.
Thank you for your comments and good luck!
