  • Not half bad, although the central left tilted pillar (pole) competes for my attention with the girl walking through the scene. There is an echo in the background with the three towers of the ...
  • I like the atmospheric feel and vibe you've managed to capture with these three images. There's an attractive edginess and rawness to them that works surprisingly well. Well done.

Thanks for your helpful reply Vidau. Just proves the point to me that you don't have to have the latest and greatest equipment to achieve quality images. I suspect you'd still manage to capture ...

Good study of the model. The B&W conversions have a very nice tonality to them. Can I ask your setup here; as in camera/ lens, lighting (window /natural light or softbox/flash) ? Regards.

The girl's face is slightly out of focus/soft but the composition is still a strong one. Good captured moment, for me.
  • Good capture of these two old bangers, Joe. The light and leading lines work well here.
  • Stunning, haunting image of the girl.
  • The middle two versions of the one image are my favourites. Really good moment graphically. Your photo opportunities back in New Jersey were probably more abundant but your photographic spirit in ...
  • Like this one , Joe. I've always been impressed with your sublime, understated work. Hope to see more of it. Regards.
  • Nicely composed image. Like the low perspective and leading lines of the train tracks.Reasonably good tonality to the images also. Regards.

The surrounding darkness you applied here is apt. For me, It emphasizes the solitude and selfishness we can sometimes have when we take up our phones. The mobile phone (especially the Smart ...

Like the isolation/separation of the main character from the background. His lost, pondering and ( possibly) wistful look is also attractive in the image. If it were mine, I might have cropped off ...
  • Replied in Triptych
The nostalgic, dated look seems be approprite in this tryp although the daughter to the right feels a lot more modern day than the other two. Looks like it would be worth getting printed up and ...
  • I like the graphic aspect of the first image, working well. I might have stepped back a couple of paces in the second image and made a composition more of the three beams (diagonal effect) and ...
  • When I first opened this post, I was thnking I was gonna see a "Cuban Portrait" and then realised it was titled  "Cubist Portrait". :-) Your favourite model, no doubt, the image evokes for me ...

Thanks very much John. I may revisit it in post and see if I can get more detail in the darker areas. Regards.

Thanks for your comments. To be honest, I hadn't made a decision to achieve this particular look in the water. ;-) I was viewing this location from higher up to the right and by the time I scaled ...

No, person involved had her image(s) displayed at a city centre street corner where a compilation of other amateur photographers were also displaying their work. Did a quick Wikipedia check on this ...

No, unfortunately. I saw it as a print bout two years ago and haven't  been in touch with the person in the last year. The image had a kinda similar look to yours but I thought she'd very quickly ...

Correct! She took it while watching TV but it turned out really well.  :-) Plaigiarise, plaigiarise! Let no one's work evade your eyes : as the words from a song or verse went. :-)
