Leica digital cameras (to me) appear to be just a more polished Lumix camera, with a different font on the menu system, perhaps better QC on production line and a lower production volume. Even this grip shares the same PIN / connector type and jog wheel as Lumix camera grips. How they get away with such extreme pricing is beyond me.

Not providing the linear focus fw options on the GH line is quite a shocking oversight on Panasonic's part. Even before (when the pre-production models were being looked at) the GH5 was out , there were questions as to why can't we do linear focus and its taken them a whole new camera model to finally add something that should of been on the more video-centric model previously. I hope Panasonic do the GH5 owners right and provide this feature via FW

Was all set to buy the ThetaV on Monday - glad I waited.

Its the same sensor as the GH5s (and a couple of other cameras) so we already know the image quality - its a Sony sensor and not Fairchild ones used previously - which is why I think these sample images don't have the wow factor from previous BM cameras. Looking forward to see how much BM pull from the sensor - to show how much Panasonic is holding back to protect their EVA1, at the price thou, its pretty incredible.

Agreed. I wonder how much of it is actually 'Made in Germany'. Perhaps manufactured, tested in Japan and then just QC'd in Germany and placed in the box... Its far too expensive for metal housed lumix.

Well thats real clever marketing from GoPro....sell / approve an accessory for a now defunct product series of cameras you no longer sell.

Mark Zed: 43" monitor!!! I love large monitors, ever since having 2x20" Trinitron screen apple displays was a "wow dude, so extreme!" thing.
but 43" is actually just 2 inches short of my lounge room TV (disclaimer I live in a very small, sub 40sqm, apartment and that's plenty big given a 3 meter viewing distance)

A 24" or 27" version would be ideal for me tbh.

brycesteiner: Sounds like a company that truly supports its users without making them pay a full new version!

Unfortunately they have 'previous' for not supporting their current customers with promised features and updates being gladly announced only for them to never appear. Good Products yes, but not really interested in supporting clients with previous hardware.

What does Denver and his team do for actual real work? All I see on youtube is pranky street parkour type videos they made with Red cameras...

After all, the photos can still be viewed on the camera, or do photogs want to put a password every time they want to chimp an image.

While I agree, that filming in the middle of a conflict in the desert or somewhere deep in the forest, uploading would be impossible. But being caught with images, encrypted images at that, is far worse than being caught with an empty memory card. I suppose there isn't any one definitive answer - which is probably why a solution has been forthcoming.

I agree, auto upload via 3G/4G or something and delete on completion. If you are photographing something that sensitive even a 2Mp file in jpg format is enough for journalist evidence etc.

That way if caught with the camera, instead of being questioned about the unviewable photos on the camera, there would be no photos.

Roland Karlsson: It obviously is the software that makes Rylo stand out. The actual hardware seems rather pedestrian. It is a pity then that Rylo is not a provider of software for spherical cams. That would do mankind a better service :)

I agree, the hardware in most of these camera is very similar and the stitching and stabilisation is purely based on software. Once you flatten the 2 pictures into the flat image, why can't we harness the amazing software of Rylo from other cameras...

TheTrickster2k: What are Panasonic up to? A camera primary aimed at still photography that would sit alongside the GH5 - I get it. But then for them to release another camera which is video orientated - but 14bit RAW photos compared to the 12bit on the G9. 14bit RAW should be in the G9 too. Some odd thinking going on

@Robemo. I agree there is little difference or need for 14bit in the grand scheme of things, but it does make marketing an issue, with the salesman suggesting someone buy the G9 opposed to the GH5/GH5s due to being a more stills camera, but on paper the GH5s actually having better stills color fidelity. They probably should of kept it at 12bit and not mentioned it as a plus point...

impressed with the stitching and white balance between the two cameras. But agreed, quality and resolution just isn't there yet

GoPro should of had this spec for the Hero 5. It just shows how far the other manufacturers is eating GoPro once unique market. Very impressed with the specs, obviously await to see how the colour and dynamic range are. But could be a serious threat to the Hero's.

Jon555: What's the "near final" firmware version? Last I heard there wasn't going to be anything more recent than 0.44 until just about release-time, and the AF in that isn't great.

TBH I was only there to check out the bits I feel I missed from the GH4, AutoISO in full manual, WB options, HDMI options etc.
