MrDigital: Don't buy numbers, buy performance. There're people out there that buy cameras because those cameras have more MP, Articulated LCD, 4K Video, better sensor, good battery life and what ever you want to throw in there.

The first reason I buy a canon camera is none of that. I buy canon cameras because they give me something that Nikon, Sony, Pentax, Panasonic and any other company you want to name can't give me. They can't give me "CANON COLORS" specially skin tone rendition. I'll not enjoy a camera if I don't like the colors produced by that camera. When canon sell you a camera they are not selling you just numbers, they are selling you "CANON COLORS".

I hope you buy a camera because you like the colors produced by that camera, and not just the numbers (more MP, Articulated LCD, 4K Video, better sensor, etc, etc)

But who buy a camera costing him 3500$ just to shoot on jpeg.
Canon color are really pleasant but you can get the color you like when shooting raw at a light cost.

Nice photos and the most interesting to me is that dpr staffs have mixed the technical with artistic.

I have both Ais 50 mm 1.2 and smc pentax 50 1.2. 2 fantastic lenses regarding the build quality but the Pentax is more heavy metal though it is pain in focus than the nikon.
I love both when bokeh is matter. Both also rendering warm colors.

dpr says
2016 is an Olympics year, and..., Canon and Nikon are fully prepared. Both manufacturers launched brand new flagship DSLRs this spring,
Then dpr suggested canon for landscape!!
Is there a an Olympic game called/landscape/?
bias in every where.

No matter how much I dislike the Chinese, this company is bringing out innovation after innovation in a field that is supposed to be creative.

Thank you to the Chinese you make our life so simple.

if you want to know how the k1 sensor capable try to shoot under exposure at raw then open the file on Lr. you will find that the sensoe captured all the details. that is what happened to me yesterday night i forgot to remove the nd filter from the lens when tried to capture a very limited event when i returned home i found all fills are very dark but wait the sony sensor is here!
yes amazing dr.and this is what i want from a camera. kudos to pentax!

BeaverTerror: Not interested in any move toward larger sensor sizes by Fuji. APS-C is the right balance between image quality, size, weight, and cost. I entered the Fuji system with the XT-1 when it was first released. At the time it was either the Fuji or a Sony A7.

I'm mostly a prime shooter. Let's look at the three most important prime focal lengths from both manufacturers.

Fuji has the 23mm F1.4 (around F1.87 equivalent) at $900
Sony has the 35mm F1.4 at $1600, or the 35mm F2.8 at $800.
Comment: The fast Sony lens is difficult to justify and the slow Sony lens is absurdly overpriced. Fuji wins.

Fuji has the 35mm F1.4 (around F1.87 equivalent) at $600
Sony has the 50mm F1.4 at $1500; the 50mm F1.8 at $250; and the 55mm F1.8 at $1000
Comment: Sony has this focal length well covered and wins.

Fuji has the 56mm F1.2 (F1.6 equivalent) at $1000
Sony has the 85mm F1.4 at $1800
Comment: Almost double the price to go from F1.6 to F1.4? I don't think so.
Fuji wins

If you are referring to size and weight I think Hasselblad is the answer with it's new MF mirror less.

Link | Posted on Jul 14, 2016 at 18:04 UTC

Good writing and thoughts.
I think fuji will catch Hasselblad nearly. You got a quick conclusion that the xt2 is excellent camera!
Does that mean that it will be rewarded the DP gold award.

Medex: i did my own test today an hour ago. Conditions:
1. The lens Pentax FA* 85 f1.4 - screw drive.
2. ISO 800, about 6:30 PM.
3. Av regimen.
4. AF-C SEL9 regimen.
5. Small JPEG (12 Mpix) to not overfill buffer during test shot series.
6. Exposure 1/500.
7. F 5.6.
Result: The best result was 29 in-focus pictures out of 30.
It is more than 95 percent hit rate.
The series of pictures is available on my facebook. User name Mindaugas MG-efoto.
Another real-life test was done with aperture f1.4. 14 shots in series, 12 - in-focus. The last two are out-of-focus and that is logical - very thin DOF. The series is also available on my FB.
In my opinion, the best result is when you start shooting the object in-focus already and use AF-C SEL9, not the single point. I did not try SEL27. You simply should keep your moving object in the 9 point focus area during shooting.

i got similar result when using fa 77 ltd with the same method.
3 in focus and one out focus. aperture was 3.2 and subject was my kid playing with his small ball inside the room.
