Ha! Already a great shot, and it gets even more interesting when you take a closer look! :-)
  • Hey, Wu! Have you set the 'sharpening' for whichever picture control setting you're using all the way up to '9'?  I've only used this with the LCD screen before, but I just tried it with my V1 ...

Smut! Great photo and story.  ( :
  • Very nice overall! I like the fruit the best, but I think I'm most used to the idea of multiple frames when they're nearly identical and/or a continuation of the frames next to them. (Let me add a ...
  • Not only have you given us some nice shots, but you've provided a great demonstration of how the good ol' underappreciated original V1/10-30 combination is still no slouch!   :-)
  • Where the heck have you been? We thought you didn't love us anymore!
  • I'm with Holger on this one.  ( :
  • The haiku works for me.  It's very nice.  ( :
  • Replied in youth & fire
Looking at this now, I think all I did was shift the same 'balancing act' you mentioned. I don't think the fire's highlights are particularly degraded, but it's lost its 'heat'.  ( :

I did a couple adjustments in Irfanview as far as contrast and gamma.  I can try posting it here if you'd like.  ( :

So!  You do slightly more 'formal' portraits of birds, too! This is great shot of an attractive colorful bird.  If you don't already know, I'm not a birder, and my opinions of bird photos have no ...
  • Replied in EVF Problem V1
I honestly do think this sort of thing can be useful. It's a question of balancing out one's particular risk/reward personality type and trying to make the right choice.  ( :
  • Replied in EVF Problem V1
Ha!  I did 'observe' a few of them. As you pointed out, opening up the camera and leaving it as it is are both reasonable approaches.  The rubber hammer falls sort of between them, I guess.  ( : Uh ...
  • Replied in Red Deer Stag.
Hey bertjefred! I wanted to mention the 'this shot' link that was in the text of your last post, in case anyone didn't notice it.  It's a really good shot, particularly with the quick 'turn around ...
  • Replied in EVF Problem V1
Sorry, Jan I tried to do a little 'reverse engineering' for you and did every combination of every different thing I could think of to try to duplicate your condition. This is the sort of situation ...

Ha!  Pretty outrageous! (I think you still have more post processing latitude than you're giving your exposure credit for.)
  • Replied in Red Deer Stag.
Geesh.  8, and now, 9 'likes', and no written responses!  I had a similar situation a while back, and it was sort of nice and sort of frustrating at the same time.  So.... Great shot of a ...

Ha!  Great stuff! 8708x4348!  Look at that detail! Not that many people have used the large-format version of the V1!   :-P Good shot of a neat ship, too.  I don't know how some of those things float.
