Would rather SL2 with kit and 50mm 1.8.

I really enjoy my SL1. Great little camera and am able to bring it into concert venues where larger cameras are forbidden.

Dynamic range on these sucks.

jefmcc: Seriously considering this one. Wow, what a machine! Is Canon even in the game anymore?

I mean, I have Canon stuff, but Nikon just knocked it out of the park.

Serious question, is it better than my SL1?

I don't think the Sl1 has dual pixel AF at all. I've had a blast with my SL1. It was a great little concert camera, but I think I'm going to go full frame with the 6D2.
No mention of dual pixel in this old article...

Is it a low light monster?

For stationary objects (non human, lol) I would think a single camera on a curved rail or track would be much more practical and cheaper?

But feel free to stage anything you like, so long as it looks "documentary".

Someone point me to a cheap Chinese replica please. Not paying more that $150 US.

How does it compare to a Domke bag? Those are built to last.

If it performs as well as a (calibrated) 18-35 does on my SL1, I'm sure it will be a very nice lens! And built like a tank!

On article Canon announces EF 50mm F1.8 STM lens (309 comments in total)

Received mine too. Not as quiet as other STM lenses I've used, but MUCH quieter than the old one. Same lens with better build quality. In my opinion, worth the $125.
