nzmacro: I am not surprised and it got 5 stars this one ;-) Superb shot Den.

Thanks Danny. I found the snub nosed beak interesting as compared to the other shot I won with recently. Clearly a juvenile with some growing to do.

nzmacro: Gees, must have missed this one Den. It's a beauty!! Sure wish it was one of mine. Sharp as a tack and gorgeous colours.

Thanks Danny. I found the placing interesting, clearly not looked at full size and difficulty not taken into account. But that's the way it goes, a bit of a lottery!

NOWHITELENS: When I look at the quality of your shots I am beginning to ask myself why I shoot full frame. This shot was taken with a 300mm lens and 1.4 TC wide open?
Can I ask you if this shot was taken hand held?
Thanks.

Thank you for the comment. Yes I always shoot handheld wide open and mainly with the 1.4 TC. Which I did with this shot. The Dual IS is very effective at low shutter speeds. Plenty of shots with this combo in my gallery:

Great photo and a well deserved win. Love the aerial view and how the fuel/oil tanker being dwarfed by the carrier gives scale to how big it is.

aventine: This is a great photo. Would have got first place from me.

Thanks. It always a bit of a lottery in these challenges and sometimes the placings puzzle me. I think a lot of voting is done on the thumbnails instead of the slideshow.

Agree this should be the winner. It met the theme spot on. Well done and bad luck that it didn't get the votes it deserved.

zzzxtreme: Focus stacking -

On panasonic, you can use any AF lenses, even adapted Fourthird lenses

On olympus, only certain olympus Pro lenses

Am I wrong?

No you are not correct when it comes to in-camera focus stacking (which zzzxtreme was referring to). Only certain Olympus m43 lens are compatible with focus stacking:

M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm f/2.8 PRO
M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO
M.Zuiko Digital ED 30mm f/3.5 Macro
M.Zuiko Digital ED 7-14mm f/2.8 PRO

NOWHITELENS: Did you use a 1.4 tc ?

Thank you. I have a gallery of images here, majority taken with tc all hand held.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.
Tommi ideally a smaller aperture would have got a bit better deeper DOF and a slightly better image but I am not too fussed about it.

A least the two sandbagging 0.5 votes did not effect the outcome!

Erik just let your cursor hover on the voting graph bars and you can see the spread of votes including the 0.5 votes at the far left.Unfortunately sandbagging exists in these challenges.😠
