Bronze Age Man: Clearly the price excludes 'snap shooters'. You are left with pros and prosumers who want a compact camera that can be 'real' if the occasion calls for it.
Clearly they can tolerate the huge files, quirky software, slow wake up, slow operation, poor battery life and very soon to be dated model.
Sony loves Ya!
Thank you gents. This is helpful info. Pitty it does not have sleep mode. I never turn my x100s off. Turning it on and off all the tome kind of makes street photography more difficult.

Hi naden,
I am considering rx1rii (currently using x100s). Could you please comment on the battery and wake up time. Does it have sleep mode like x100s which simply sleeps after whatever time you have set and does not eat up battery or is it always on unless you shut it down? Is the battery that terrible with wifi off? I would use it for street work and travels. I do not mind 5 spare batteries for a day but if it is worse than that it would be dissapointing.
Is AF really faster in photo mode or only in movie mode?
