Nevermess: I was waiting for micro focus adjustment in the light D5XXX Nikon body. At the moment I have few D5XXX and it is not possible to calibrate them with all my lenses and I don’t want huge heavy D7XXX… seems it is time to try OLY or SONY mirrorless options….

@Josh152 I would accept such Nikon's statement only if they can make auto focus on their D3XXX and D5XXX to work flawlessly with their prime 1.8 lenses. For example I have D5100 and 35 1.8 and 50 1.8. Nikon admitted that there is slight front focus with 50 mm lens and a bit worse back focus with 35 mm lens, but they were not able to calibrate both lenses to my body. They offered to me calibration of the body to only one lens (35 mm), which made may 50 mm even worse. On my complain I have got response that if I want better focus calibration I should buy their higher model camera with Micro focus Adjustment functionality. So it seems that even though they can see the problem their statement is that my focus is acceptable (for this class of camera)... But this is not written in their advertisements....

Micro focus Adjustment is firmware based functionality. They don't need to add more HW in order to implement it, that's why I am so disappointed.

Nukunukoo: DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA!

Nikon does not get it. They called it D5500 because they added a touch screen and a flat profile grade. NOTHING else, no Live View Aperture, NO headphone jack, same bitrate (point-and-shoot level), when doing video BEWARE the battery life and the firmware update that accepts only Nikons leaving third-party batteries really a hit-and-miss.

If people don't buy the unit, probably the 90-year-old senior execs might realize their world view have changed...

DO NOT BUY THIS CAMERA!

(from a D800e, D7100 and D5300 user)

That is true, but 7100 is too heavy to carry around all day. What I really miss and want is Micro Focus Adjustment..... or if this is not possible than D5XXX body without auto focus issues...

I have Nikon D5100 and I can see the same circle in the centre. It is not an issue and it is visible on all Nikon D5100. As well as Matrix metering, the Nikon D5100 provides center weighted (75% weight for circle) and spot modes. The center-weighted circle defaults to 8mm. The spot metering circle is 3.5mm, or about 2.5% of the image frame, and meters at the center of the frame when the focus point is automatically selected, or from the manually selected focus point otherwise. On the highest models you have option to chose the circle size, but here it is with fixed size and visible through the viewfinder.
