About me:

Living in Tacoma, WA, after umpteen years in East Asia, mostly Beijing but including Seoul with visits to Pyongyang. Friends in both places. Major missing experience: Japan; only spent about two weeks there and hope to correct that sometime soon, hopefully with return trips to both Koreas. Suggestions on Japan history reading welcome.

After reading these posts, I decided to start a movement to force Ford to bring back the Edsel, which was a very good car; then, I'll work on IBM to bring back their original "PC." "New Coke?"

That's an interesting, quick reply. Thanks. Perhaps I'm mistaken in my earlier post. I don't think that I even take my phone into a toilet unless it happens to be in my pack, pocket, or some place like that.

Thanks, Dpr. This review is more comprehensive than most I've read in the past couple of days. Appreciated.

Who makes it? Sony?

Nice. I have the M43 version arriving Monday. I know it doesn't have the same features or sophistication, but the price is right and I have the lenses.

FrithjofA: What a magic. Sales psychology 101 with no effect. The store can charge 100$ the state charges (lets say 5% sales tax) 5$ and the store gives you a 5$ "tax rebate" (B&H way). Or the store charges 95.24$ the state charges 4.76$ sales tax and at the checkout you pay 100$ (european way).

Question: what do you play at the end? Exactly: 100$. In detail: the dealer price is enlarge by the implicit sales tax such that you can get the rebate and be happy for cheating the state although B&H complies with the law!

Sales taxes are used for roads, law enforcement, courts and infrastructure which make even a mail order store operating to begin with since without road, there is no shipping of the warehouse. People always misunderstand "taxes" as state robbery instead for appreciating what service is provided to the community.

Tried to add, but too late:
C'mon folks, it's just a store credit card, allowing customers another way to finance a purchase, and giving the store the possibility of making more sales. If you don't want it, don't apply. Not rocket science.

AOC: A shrewd move by B&H, for where would they be without the tax-dodgers and penny-pinchers who call it home?

Richdm: Agreed; just another example of posters with limited reading comprehension skills. Perhaps he/she was confused by those pesky asterisks...

Right, the same as every other card that has a 30 day grace period, or similar. That's always been true. Nothing new, and something people understand and know how to use to their benefit.

Of course not; it is clear that they are teasers and put out to stir up interest prior to the unveiling on the 24th. That's normal with new products. Nice of DPr to pass it along. Perhaps that turnip truck is still nearby...

Just ordered the Polaroid printer. Sorry, but not due to this particular article; I've been looking at it, and others, for some months as I sometimes go to places that either don't have internet or the people don't have the necessary connection available. Plus, it's kinda fun to just hand someone a printed photo. Can you say "nostalgia?"Hope it works okay with the latest iOS and my new iPhone XR.
Dpr: Thanks for bringing these cameras and printers to our attention again.

I wouldn't mind something like the small red one that prints as I need an instant camera at times. I couldn't find it online, so perhaps it's just a test balloon, or released under a different name.

lightandaprayer: Journalists aren't just in danger in countries with oppressive regimes such as China. There is a developing war against journalism in the United States, where the president and conservative politicians recklessly libel journalists as "enemies of the people." Investigative journalism backed-up by thorough reporting and verifiable facts is routinely labeled as "fake news."

The founders knew that a democracy can only thrive when there is a well-informed citizenry. And that the people rely on journalists to provide a check on the power of government, corporations and the wealthy. In every country where there is an autocratic government, unbiased journalism is replaced by government controlled propaganda. The initial steps toward forming such a government include getting rid of every last vestige of independent journalism.

We think that something like that cannot happen here. But democracy is more fragile than we think and the powers aligned against it are many and very determined.

I must be missing something here, and I also looked at the Lensentals website.
What geographic area is this? Only where Lensrentals has locations; is that worldwide, or just USA and perhaps Canada? If so, did they incorporate data from other rental companies located in areas covered or not covered by Lensrentals. Of course, I doubt some may want to furnish that info.
If it's clearly stated somewhere, I apologize for not seeing it.

Rich Evans: Let's break down some numbers here.

Remove the top the (C/S/N) and the best of the rest is Panasonic right? Let's do some number crunching here to get market share where should Pana invest their precious resources:

In cameras:
Oly+Pana mFT : 9.41+0.95 = 10.36%
L mount Pana+Leica (absent is Sigma) : 9.41+1.50 = 10.91%

Already in camera bodies one can see that Oly is dead weight that Pana is dragging around.

Lenses (Is it even worth doing any math? Oly is non existent and just piled together in the other):
Sigma+Pana : 12.96+3.42 = 16.38%

If Pana manages to bring customers under the L mount umbrella they can basically continue being kings of their segment without the need to drag the carcass of Oly around.

It was a brilliant move by Pana to finally ditch mFT in favour of the superior system. Can't wait to see what they bring to the table.

Oh, and don't worry Oly users. They surely will release another 16mp mFT camera or MAX a 20mp if they are feeling reeaaaaally smart that day.

"It was a brilliant move by Pana to finally ditch mFT..."

I don't understand. I haven't heard anything about Panasonic getting out of the m4/3 world, especially as that is an important video format for them. In fact, they have an announcement January 7th. Some people are predicting two cameras, with perhaps one being the upgrade to the GH5s.
