samfan: Well, it took only 2 decades but it seems that Panasonic and Sony finally learned how to make cameras.

Hell maybe the next iteration of the RX100 will be finally enjoyable to use.

Not so long, Micro 4/3 started well and keep going well better and better.

liquidsquid: Finally, an ideal upgrade path for my GH-2 that ticks off all of the boxes I care about.

Now I am curious what the RAW output from the sensor looks like for long night shots such as storm photography and possibly casual astronomy. Yes, I know I can get amazing results with larger sensors, but I cannot deal with taking large cameras around for casual fun hobby work. Should I expect the GH5 output to look the same, or will this look even better?

I worked as Professional with Nikons and Canons, got the first Panasonic Lumix and kept buying cameras and lenses, still do some Professional work and IQ from Micro 4/3 is still enough in a small size and good built quality.

Well Done Panasonic Lumix. I was a Nikon and Canon user and worked as a Professional Photographer for 21 Years. I decided to go for Micro 4/3 with the First Panasonic Lumix, and after a lot of years I am still happy with these cameras, I am amazed (used to Nikons and Canons) with the good durability and lenses quality, IQ is great now and even on my first Micro 4/3 Camera never needed to clean sensors. I still do some Professional work and IQ is enough and good for the most I need.

Cheers.

No that's just kidding. But I do think Lightroom does need a complete overhaul, new extended features and much improved performance.

JosephScha: The new GF8 is still about $500, should have been included. And the G7 when on sale sells for $599, I wonder how close to $500 qualified.

Agree

They really deserve, let's hope that it don't take too long to see cameras with this organic sensor. Meanwhile we have ours good "old" tech sensor to fill our creative moods.

Long time announced, now finally on the move for real, let's see what cameras we will see with this great sensor.

GodSpeaks: 8K video. That's going to require a 45+MP sensor. Bring it ON!!!

Wait, maybe not. I really do not want a 45+MP 4/3 sensor. 24MP would be more than enough for me.

And before anyone jumps up and down saying 8K video is only 33MP, yes true if you have a 16:9 sensor, but you need 45MP plus (depending on video crop) for a 4/3 sensor.

Yes, that will happen sooner, hopefully.

And maybe also more MP in sensor with less or similar noise compared to the ones we have. Technology advances are good but we must think well if we should upgrade or not as they are available to us consumers.

Usually I wait till I really need more IQ or features.

We would not see 8k video soon, and before we see it on Photographic cameras it will appear on Camcorders for pros.

Anyway it is a good new.

vladimir vanek: Thumbs up for Sony. They've been doing good job over the last two years. Looks like E-mount is a good way to go alongside the ultra lightweight and portable MFT. I think Canikon will lose some market share.

I agree. But I don't have Sony cameras or lenses yet. Only a Phone.

I am waiting to see a new camera then I decide to move or not.

Good focal to add to the very good lenses already in the Micro 4/3 System.

Well done Panasonic Lumix.

Adding the EVF will make mr buy this little great camera and IQ must be even a bit better than the GM1.

forpetessake: If you want a superzoom, just get any lightweight Nikon/Canon DSLR and attach an 18-200 zoom to it and it will be ahead of this Panasonic in every way. Or if you want a mirrorless camera, get a Sony A6000 with 18-200 zoom, or Samsung with 18-200, or Olympus with 14-150.
Only those who are interested in half baked 4k video may find this camera interesting.

Yeah Yeah.

The good is that there are brands and cameras for every taste and needs.
