On article Google will no longer develop Nik Collection (389 comments in total)

I've seen the many (many, many) threads and still don't get it... when exactly was the last update on this (amazing) collection? 5 years ago? Why is this suddenly "news"?

Or are they just pulling the download site?

cosinaphile: in the 1990s nikon was claiming their algorithms for program mode uses many thousands of photos in the computer database when selecting the best settings for optimum image success

decades later , what does this exactly claim to do that is different .... of course
the processing power is science fiction compared to the chips used back in the 20 c ..... im not reading why exactly this is amazing or different from what all mosern camera makers are already doing in camera in various program and "intelligent " mode

hmmmm?

But.. but... this will "quickly shoot amazing images"!

Nikon never claimed that. And I can confirm, that certainly not is the case with any of the Nikons I've owned/own.

Which probably is due to the operator's lack of intelligence... hmmm...

Seriously?

Reason for asking is the spec says 450 shots per charge, but I'm more interested in "real life" experiences...

Would be great as... so many things! Holidays, walk-abouts, backup...

Wonder, what a complete kit will cost...

*runs off to do some maths*

Right then!

Camera (delicious) and two zooms (one more beautiful than the other) is some $4400 in total...

Hmmmmm.... better off to bed...

Janoch: Seriously good looking... could be the wide, I need.

Look forward to reviews!

Price sounds totally wrong though?

Interesting, thanks.

Nice to have price (semi) confirmed.

But seriously... you didn't have a look through it?? I'm shocked! :p

I had my eyes fixed on the old (expensive) 15mm Nikkor, but if this one is as good as I think those graphs and lines are, this little beauty puts everything on hold.

Could also save me some $1500...

/edit: now I just noticed rear filter slot!

ZJ24: I don't have a problem with the pricing of the Hassys, if I was an owner I would have a MAJOR problem with the discounting.

You want to find out that the 2015 AMG Merc you bought last month is now 40% off for Christmas??? No thanks, premium brands should never discount their flagship products heavily, better to include add-ons, such as a reasonable lens included in the body-only price.

My initial thoughts as well!

I know, there were a couple of people over at LuLa, that recently got theirs... will go and see, if they have any comments... :-D

Merry Christmas!

Janoch: Why the heck didn't you ask them, if they are completely blind or deaf to the requests for a D300s update??

"Aggressively ask"? Where did that come from?
It surely must be possible to phrase a question on behalf of the large D300 group - who often and everywhere are begging for a true replacement - without being "aggressive"??
But of course the opportunity has been passed, so no point in this... I was just curious!
And sorry if it sounded "aggressive". Not meant to be, and not really my "style".
Cheers, Jan.

What 3rd part batteries?
All of them? Reports say some, but is there a list anywhere?
Some 3rd part batteries are really poor. I mean, really, really REALLY poor...
Would love to see a list, and would love to see brands like JapCell, Duracell, Hähnel a.o. *not* to be found there...
