Given that mirrorless is now 100% certain to be the future of photography they should indeed be very worried.
But competition is a very good thing for all of us consumers so let's hope that Canon and Nikon (and the others?) can up their game soon.
Sony Distagon f1.4
Dirk Nuary: Why no Sony? No Sony no party.
It’s about things we’re not allowed to talk about
Ebrahim Saadawi: All great picks. A7rIII just stands out as weird/misplaced. If I put it I'd put the D850 too, but I wouldn't buy either for a dedicated sports camera.
They’re both prosumer cameras, check out the Sony A9 which is actually targeted at pros. Advertising dollars hold sway in these rankings.
Kev The Doc: Where’s the Sony A6500?
That’s what the editor uses but he’s not allowed to say ;) Heck I might have to get one of those myself for non-A9 days.
MikeStern: Sony A9
Sony A9
Sony A9
I played with D5, D500 and 1DXm2
A9 Is the most versatile of all. Fastest operation and easiest to carry.
To say that there's a slight Nikon bias on this web site would be an understatement. Sony A9 in 10th place.... just laughable.
Hilarious! The Sony A9 in 10th place - really???? Behind these old-tech dinosaurs with their noisy flapping mirrors. I'm stunned.
Daft Punk: I think the zero-black out of the Sony A9 is very special. A game changer. It has to be tried to be believed how liberating it is to shoot with zero VF blackout. Blew me away.
I think this achievement should be recognised.
It's not so much the zero blackout as the combination of zero blackout, lightning fast sensor wide focus and totally silent shutter up to 1/32,000 sec at 20 fps. And no Nikon even comes close.
Very nice shot. It looks like a Coopers Hawk though.
Jake2046: Question...for the people who are switching to Sony. Is it really worth it?...I know Sony mirrorless camera is pretty awesome but I don't think it's leap and bound that much better than Nikon or even Canon...the amount of money to rebuy all the lens are pretty costly...no?
So buy an adapter and keep your lenses.
Do you really think that flipping noisy whacking mirrors belong in a modern camera? Quaint and old fashioned but rapidly becoming a ridiculous limitation.
I’m seeing constant banding using a Flashpoint flash in HSS mode with my A9 at faster shutter speeds but I’m currently finding virtually nothing on the web about this issue.
