Pentax, now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. Long time. But on a more serious note this does look like quite the upgrade in quality. Looks sharper with much, much less chromatic...

The non-linear option is actually nice in many cases. It allows you to get to the desired focus range very quickly and then fine tune.
-
The point is that there is no point. Sorry, just had to make fun of how many replies started off with "the point is...".
-
@noirdesir You are all over the place and now trying to bring a bunch of Canon and Fujifilm gear into this Nikon discussion. I also owned the 300mm PF. It is a great lens. It seems like you...
-
@noirdesir Oh goodness, bringing the Canon 600mm & 800mm f/11 into this is just absurd, and it appears that you are just trolling me at this point.
-
The 500mm PF is close to 2 pounds lighter and an inch shorter than the 200-500mm. The new 400mm is only 190 grams lighter and is longer than the 100-400mm. The lighter weights and lengths of the PF...

@panther fan Whatever floats your boat. That is some interesting logic there.
-
@panther fan Those are indeed some small differences, but I disagree that most will pay $550 extra for them.
-
Great lens. However, it was a mistake to price this $550 higher than the 100-400mm. The zoom is going to sell much more with its versatility, comparable image quality, similar weight and shorter...

"Oh no, another company released something. Time to flood the comments section. Everything must be about Sony!!!"
-
Its funny how Sony users feel an irresistable urge to make the comment section of every article about Sony. Seems like a symptom of insecurity to me.
-
Fortunately there are some good but inexpensive arca compitable replacements out there. I got a $30 replacement foot for my 100-400mm which I like much more than the Nikon foot.
-
Considering that the 300mm PF is about $2,000, and the 500mm PF is $3,600, I am guessing $2,900 for this 400mm.
-
Looks fantastic, but I am somewhat suprised that they are releasing this before the 200-600mm. 400mm is already covered by the 100-400mm, and the 400mm f/2.8. I am happy with my Z 100-400mm, but I...

I think it is best if they keep the X-T line focused primarily on photography. There are many old photographers (including my Father) who moved to Fujifilm because of the old school interface,...

There are more high aperture concerns than just autofocus speeds. Having to push up the ISO (noise) to shoot in darker conditions is a major concern with high aperture lenses. Limited ability to...

@Nicolas - Yeah, I used to have the XF 100-400 when using Fujifilm. It was a very nice lens. @Beavertown - Yes the Nikon 200-500mm is an F mount lens. So what? @Mailing - Yes I did compare...

This is a bit underwhelming, and confirms that I made the right decision in moving on from Fujifilm 3 years ago. There are much better options with other systems. For example, Nikon makes a...

I used to be a Canon shooter, and the EF 100mm macro lens was one of my favorites. This new version loos great with its Spherical Abberation Control and 1.4x features. It even looks like you can...

Wow, this is a serious upgrade. The video options are nice, but I am even more excited by the pre-buffer, 120 fps EVF refresh rate, the customizable wide area AF zones and the multi-exposure on the...
