About me:

A hobbyist who really enjoys photography!

JamminHyaku's current gear

Sony a7R II
Samyang AF 14mm F2.8 FE
Sigma 100-400mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS
Love the images. The menu isnt very intuitive, and no touch screen or articulating screen feels like a downgrade from my 300$ Canon; this camera is purely about the IQ, but it performs!
Sharper than most people make it out to be. Is it perfectly sharp? No. But unless you are pixel peeping, the IQ is very pleasing and it is very wide. Weight and huge front element with no filter thread option are unfortunate, but is the case with most UWAs.
Sony FE 24-105mm F4 G OSS
Sony FE 28-70mm F3.5-5.6 OSS
Sony FE 35mm F1.8
Superb for the 150$ I paid for it. Comparable to higher end lenses like the 24-105? Not really, but its also 1/10 the cost.
Sony FE 50mm F1.8
Sony FE 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 G OSS
Tamron 70-180mm F2.8 Di III VXD
Quite amazing for 300$. It is not a professional lens, but no one expects that from it. The AF isn't the fastest or quitest, but the IQ is quite good for any hobbyists out there shooting stills.
When compared to some other lenses out there, this one isn't the sharpest. On its own, it creates very pleasing shots and is compact for its focal length. Overpriced for what it is, but I think people have given it an unfair stigma.
Very sharp, and the constant F2.8 aperture in this focal range is a huge difference from the variable 5.6 or 6.3 I am used to in this range.
Other gear:
  • Peak Design 10L Sling Bag
  • Peak Design Capture Clip
  • Viltrox 85mm F1.8 FE

JamminHyaku's previous gear

Canon EOS 700D (EOS Rebel T5i / EOS Kiss X7i)
Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II
Canon EF-S 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS STM
Great starter camera that I got a good deal on. Can create good images but nothing spectacular, but that is expected in this price range. It is a fun to use camera that lets you dive into photography, and lenses arent overly expensive for beginners!
Canon EF 50mm F1.8 STM
Picked it up for 40$ used, for this price how could one not love it?
