...I mean, have you tried it?

I wonder how people coped before. Hmm. Hilariously, it still wouldn't be something zebra lines would fix either, if you need to be constantly footerin' about to get good exposures, and things like ...

A lot of smartphones either take multiple shots to stack to get HDR, or tonemap the crap out of the image. Personally I don't like the look.

You can use it on older Canon cameras via Magic Lantern. It's neat, but like you, I found it distracting when composing the shot. For example, what if you want to deliberately blow out the background?

I'm not a car person. My point is that different camera systems have different features that are specific to them. For example, would you want film emulations on a Canon camera, similar to how Fuji ...

Of course - the end file is going to be made into a JPG at some point anyway. Zebras won't necessarily even fix that. For me, it means leeway for highlights on RAW files.

Different companies do things differently, and you're upset by that? I mean, a histogram in live view does the job just fine, not once it has bothered me, and not once have I had exposure mishaps ...

@photography-lover the NEF format was shown to be lossy, even when not using compressed NEFs. Either way, my point is that at least as of today, most manufacturers cook their RAW files to various...

I just made up a new word to describe this kind of behaviour. Spledding - trying to claim the moral high ground based on product tech specs.

@photographylover I own an R6, which has similar overall image quality to the R3, and also apparently has noise reduction baked into RAW files. However... there are two things you need to...

...literally no one said a firmware update would do anything for dynamic range.

You don't need 144hz for creative work.

They can still sell the lenses, which hold value better than the body anyway.

...or just shoot RAW and avoid JPG processing to begin with. Complaining about JPGs from a camera is like complaining about the cup holder in a car.

It stays f/11 on APS-C, but the equivalent DOF would be more like f/18. Although this only really applies if you factor the difference in distance needed to fill up the frame.

I think my mind melted a little by this statement

It's 2022. Storage for RAW files is not an issue anymore. Even 1tb can store an excess of 20,000 - 40,000 RAW files. For most people, that's way more than enough!

It's a speedbooster adapter/focal reducer, so the FOV and aperture would indeed be more like a 28-80mm f/2.

It annoys me that people fail to make that distinction - it is raw sensor data. The bit depth etc does not matter, as they literally cannot be compared. The audiophile comparison annoys me ...
