I plan to get a job as a CNC programmer. I will then have enough cash to get great photography equipment. Hopefully I can earn an extra income in photography.
I simply can't beleive where digital photography has gone. Last year I bought an Oly D-370 for $130. It was a real deal at the time because Office Depot was haveing an anneversiary sale, and the camera was going obsolete. The only manual features were the preset white balance and the EV settings. I took aprox 2500 photos in one year. I soon started going online and seing the awsome sample photos that newer cameras were making and became completley dissatisfied. I really wanted a new camera, but 3mp was over $350 I have been a jobless student for a while and this was way out of my price range.
Last March I was in the basement and saw the same camera hanging on the wall that had been there my whole life. I was shocked when I took it off the wall and found it was a Minolta SRT 101. Since then I have shot about 15 rolls of both color and black and white film.
I soon became dissatisfied with the scans I was getting. I think when my parents genes mixed it created a binary code, not dna. No matter how much film I shot I still longed to get good digital images. Getting them scanned was out of my price range, so I decided to buy a film scanner. I was thinking of buying an HP s20xi when my Bro-in-law said that he would give me $100. I went camping last weekend and really thought the whole thing over. The conclusion I came to was that I would spend $100 on a scanner that may not give the best scans, and be spending $.25 a shot doing it. I decided I would go back to digital.
I figured that for $300 I could get a camera that would give me great 4x6's and 5x7s, and if I was really lucky, 8x10s. I researched digital cameras for a week solid. The camera I found was the Canon A70. It had more than I had hoped for. I still debated about buying it until this morning. I went online at 5:30Am looking again at the prices at Yahoo. I was shocked to find the camera for only $218, on sale from $299. On the spot I bought it.
The online store was out of stock, and wouldn't have it until after family vacation. So I borrowed some cash from my father, and bought one at my local camera store for $299
What amazes me is that this 3.2mp camera with all it's manual features cost only $160 more than the 1.3mp Oly I bought only 15 months ago.
