About me:

I am a Nikon user with several FX and DX bodies, plus f2.8 zooms and fast primes, including those from Carl Zeiss. I am a big fan of Fuji's X system which brings real joy back into photography.

While Canon and Nikon make great products I wish they were more innovative.

Love landscape, wedding, macro and take a camera everywhere.

Either in leather or canvas, it's a great little bag to carry around a single X body with a couple of extra lenses or 2 X bodies with a lens on each. I find it quite liberating to know I have a ...
  • I have had the X70 since just after it came out in March and use the Fuji half case which includes a wrist strap. I also tend to keep a lens hood on the camera when using it with its native 18.5mm ...
  • Replied in Nissin Air 1
You will definitely need 2 of Fuji's new flashguns in order to take 1 of them off-camera. I asked a Fuji tech person this last week at an event. Unlike Nikon for example, the built in flash or the ...
  • Replied in Nissin Air 1
I invested in a Fuji compatible Nissin i40 last year and recently an i60.  I went with Nissin because I liked the compact and nicely designed flash units for on-camera TTL, but also because the ...
  • Some of the film simulations have a quite a strong tone curve and they do tend to block the shadows up at default settings.  Astia, Classic Chrome, Velvia and Pro-Neg high can do this especially. S ...

  • I use primes for wedding shooting. I find the most useful focal lengths are 23 and 56, followed by 16. If you already have an X100 series you can skip the 23. The 35 1.4 could also be a great ...
  • Those zooms are not really fast enough for Astro work if you want to get good, detailed Milky Way images, though may work ok for moonlit landscape shots with some stars. The best value and ...
  • Created discussion thread Nissin i40 Flash Firmware Update in UK
In case anyone in the UK is thinking of having their i40 upgraded to the latest firmware that works with the X-T2, here are the details. Send with a brief note explaining you wish the firmware to ...
  • Forgot to say...check out Kevin Mullins at f16.click...he is a full time wedding shooter who went from Canon to Fuji.  He does very informative blogs showing how the system works for him and how ...

  • I too got to see this impressive pair at Duxford earlier this year on both days!  I did find focus and tracking on the X-T1 a challenge for airshows using the new 100-400 lens.  I got a lot of ...

  • Replied in XT-2 and flash
I contacted Kenro, the UK distributor for Nissin.  They will do the i40 firmware update for £20 + VAT (£25) in Swindon.  Seems the Americans are getting it for free!  Why am I not surprised....we ...

  • I too bought a Peak Design sling and wrist strap for the X-T2 as I wanted something a bit heavier duty than my DSPTCH straps because I knew I would be using big tele lenses a fair bit on this ...
