martindpr: It's a good little camera, a little short of very good, but the competition is going give it a hard run for the money, since something like Sony A6000 is amazing, same size, better quality, larger sensor etc etc... For $500 it's worth considering, but Canon's pricing aims too high for my taste... The quality of output is sufficient though...

??? canons pricing aims too high. G7X is 495€. G5X is 799€ and RX100m4 is 1149€ (that's high)

guydr: The positive comments for the G5X or G7X actually come from the owners of the cams. Where the pro sony comments come from people who dream to get the RX100m3 and m4, but can't afford it.

Gary, if I don't like a cam I don't buy it. Buying just for trying it out is ridiculous and at the cost of another. I"m also a multiple brand owner.

Carl, I'm totaly agree with that second paragraph. I liked that formfactor, even for the original G1X

A lot of whiners here over the VF, and why should you mention it one time if you can mention it 40 times. You're right it is a stupid decision to leave an small VF out (like in SX60) ,but it is not the end of the world because not everybody feels the need to hold the camera at arms lenght. If you're not have intrest in the camera iust for that, move on to the next.
Something else here in my country it is 949€ for the camera and 1149€ for camera + EVF. 1149€ is the same price of RX100m4 here. The RX10m2 cost 1599€, so 450€ more is not a bit more expencive, it's huge.
I'm gone buy one for the 600mm reach and the water resistant, but the price has to drop.

guydr: All RX100's have good IQ, I'm not gone argue that and you pay for the version you want. My only gripe with Sony cams is the launching price in the EU. RX100m3 was 849€ when introduced, now the RX100m4 will be 1149€. I think Sony lost touch with reality here and at that price they are gone sell 0,000³ units in the EU. Don't BS over the VAT, that's the price we have to pay. The G7X is now around 500€ in comparisation.

The point of my post was over the price of RX100m4: 1149€, and has become debate between RX100m4 and G7X?????
Yes, RX100m4 has better spec's of G7X (if you really need them, and it all depends on the user), but for 650€ more? That's 2 times the price of G7X + an extra 150€ just for the fun of it. It is like selling a Scoda for the price of a Ferrari.

I don't understand some off the comments on the G7X, it starting to sound like all the bashing and trashing of both of the G1X models, and both of the G1X models blows IQ-wise the RX100 models right out of the water like a spacerocket. I have a RX100 also and it takes great pictures, so does the G7X. But people always forget to mention when they compare both RX100m3 and G7X, at least in my country, is the price difference. RX100m3 849€ and G7X 599€.
And if you speak about shot-to-shot time and AF-speed look at the nikons P7xxx models and P3xx than you see wat slow raelly meant.
Good review DPR
