I think a GX85 might be the best intro for me to more modern RF-style MILCs and M43. Its used prices are cheaper then the 8's from what I've been seeing. Who knows,,, maybe I'll be seduced away ...

jeez, what a cobwebby, dusty and tangled mess that'll be in a couple of years. It's already an eyesore brand new.

Not on my 7D. But the flash must be in manual mode or you get the mirror clacking when the camera tries to E-TTL the exposure.

Thanks for explaining to the proudly ignorant. :-D

It puzzles me that manufactures lately seem to concert their efforts on wide and ultra-wide lenses, the very angles of view for which smartphones excel. Is this a video-driven thing?

And thanks for the tip about the flash, too. I generally use one both indoors and out.

Is the silent mode in a GX8 available for EVF shooting? Obviously, I'm mentally in DSLR mode.

Light rays don't; they'll still enter a DSLR and make the sensor work. And, jeez, the sheer existent tonnage of high-grade DSLRs and lenses for them makes them more future-proof than anyone's power ...

Only pertinent video I could find compared it to a GX85. Of course, both were lensless and in burst mode. The GX8 sounded like a machine gun followed by the GX85's sewing machine. I just gotta have ...

Eventually, though, some standardizing happens for the sake of utility. My settings for short lenses: f/8-11, ≥1/250th sec, external flash always attached and often used. For telephoto: shutter ...

No interpolated-schmerpolated AI blendering of distant detail from a pipsqueak lens on digital zoom steroids will ever compare to a true long and profoundly unpocketable tele lens. Otherwise, go ...

It's available for my camera and I've read many comments from happy ML users, but since I only shoot stills and 99% OVF, I don't think ML really pertains to me. Any other stills/OVF shooters find ...

Not when your old computer black-screens and shuts off from thermal overload when processing RAW. =:-o I'm unsophisticated enough to be perfectly happy with JPEG and GIMP.
