About me:

Relax and have fun! That's my motto for photographers!

I have a wonderful full time job and on the side I am very much part-time author and non working photographer.

I used to do light semi-pro work, independent film stills, weddings, amateur models and some stock work. Those would be the highlights as I stopped working professionally after a few years and now I just shoot for fun!

I believe photography is both an art and technical mastery to capture all the multitudes of possibilities life can bestow to the eyes. While I enjoy gear, some tech talk and knowing more to help make better pictures, I am at my best when the gear disappears, the scene creates passion and the minds eye is left to capture photos!

In reply to:

Beckler8: What would be interesting would be actual innovation - something unexpected. Like a 15M-dot EVF so no more mirror required. Or something like slo-mo 4K video. (120fps maybe?) Or dual sensor: it can internally switch between two different sensors, presumably a sensor carrier would slide side-to-side; that would revolutionize things. I've never heard that proposed but would clearly be disruputive and relatively easy to do; do they even try to think originally?

But we know nothing even remotely close to innovation will happen but rather it'll be a full 8% improvement over the D4's AF performance and that's about it. :(

Nikon already patented the hybrid OVF/EVF in 2013. Translucent LCD's are already readily available and have a level of maturity. Doubt the D5 or likes will see it. Probably a new model and eventual lineup.

I use this lens now on the Nikon 750 and D7200 and and very impressed with the results. No focus hunting like described in this review so i wonder if that is more a Canon compatibility issue? For the price the lens is nothing short of amazing!

Many people are not as active right now so may be hard to get many to enter or others like myself may not care for contests.

On article Opinion: The myth of the upgrade path (1607 comments in total)

Really in at least terms of the Nikon side of things the biggest true upgrades you get with FX are the AF System and access to a vast collection of glass made for that format. That and advances in noise suppression are what makes it an upgrade. That said if they made DX versions of the FX cameras and accompanying glass you would have a chance at superior IQ.

But before anyone gets an upgrade, a lot of people will benefit more from upgrading their skills rather than their camera. Most of these cameras are not really limiting what people can accomplish now days.
