chulster: > At 663 grams it is among the lightest full-frame 24-105mm F4 lenses on the market...
Weak. There are only two other 24-105mm f/4 lenses on the market; surely it can't be too hard to say definitively which is lightest? (Hint: it's this Sony.)

You're mistaking the specs for Mark I version of the Canon for the Mark II. The Mark I is indeed 670 grams; that lens came out in 2005 and wasn't that great. The Mark II is 795 grams and was a big improvement over the Mark I.
Comparing a 12 year old lens (from an era of low res cameras) to a brand new lens (designed for modern hi res sensors) seems like a bad idea, in my opinion.
FredVasilescu: I can not notice this lens is heavier than Canon counterpart.
Where is the mirorless advantage?

The Mark I version of the Canon came out in 2005, and from what I've read isn't that great (I had no first-hand experience with that lens when I shot Canon). You're comparing the weight and price of a 12 year old lens, that came out in an era of 12MP sensors, to a brand new lens designed for 42MP and up. Doesn't seem like a valid comparison, in my opinion. The more apt comparison would be the Mark II of the Canon, which from what I've read is very good.

The Canon is 795 grams (according to B&H product page), so this Sony is 132 grams lighter. That's 17% lighter, not insignificant.
This is disheartening news. I owned the GR V, one of the most enjoyable cameras I've ever used. I hope Ricoh pulls through and continues making cameras, whether under the Ricoh or Pentax names. Best of luck to Yamashita-san and everyone at Ricoh.
Tough time to be in the camera business.
Sharif Abdou: Question for the DPR staff, is there a way to watch live without a FB account? Thanks.
No worries Dale, I watched it later on DPR's YouTube channel. Thanks for the answer though.
