@Francis85 Well said. And last I checked, this is a photography site, not an English grammar site.
-
That's obviously not true. I'd expect IQ degradation at 720mm to be very, very severe, but as the guy said, at least it can zoom.
-
To be fair, the Panny zooms out to 720mm. Unless IQ at the long end is downright unusable, this camera is aimed at an entirely different use case.
-
Maybe that's the case for you, but there are plenty of reasons to shoot in raw with a smartphone. For example, it eliminate the need to pay for and carry a separate camera. Phones have worse ...
-
No it changes the aperture directly, and the shutter speed had to change to keep exposure consistent. It seems the camera is programed to not change ISO too much in P mode, even though it's set ...
-
Smartphones could apply a lot post process but you can opt to shoot in raw also. Not saying they are better, just that the processing is a feature that you don't necessarily have to use.
-
Hi Thanks. That's what I've noticed. So P is basically the same as Av, except the aperture dial turns in the opposite direction?
-
Well, it's exactly that simple. An iPhone 13 pro max is the same price as an rx 100 vii, and it includes massive amount of storage even in the base model. The Sony camera includes 0 storage. ...

How exactly does a cell phone limit a person's photographic artistry in ways that a small pocket camera does not?
-
I recently decided to try P mode. In this mode, is there a way to directly change shutter speed? It looks like top dial changes Aperture and the back dial changes exposure compensation. I also ...
-
A camera like the Sony RX100 should be compared to high-end smartphones. In fact, these Sony cameras cost more than an iPhone.
-
When I go to the AF point selection screen, all AF points in the left and right groups flash, but not the ones in the center group. However, this only seems to happen with some lenses, usually ...
-
When did Canon ever invest in EF-S? The entire EFS lens line up is ridiculously weak given Canon's market leading position. Now that the mount is as good as dead, there is no way they will start ...
-
@Reactive Most normal people just want to snap decent photos that meet their needs, and they can do that easily with their phones now. Maybe that's a shame to you, but most human beings consider...
-
@Thoughts R Us There is no evidence the stepping stone theory was ever a major factor in APSC development. Most Canon APSC buyers were consumers who just want to snap nice photos. Only a tiny...

Can't comment on the Art primes. I have the older version Sigma 30mm f1.4, it focus shifts badly. The lens nails focus 50% of the time, the other 50% it either front focuses or back focuses, ...
-
Sadly that market has been taken over by smartphones.
-
Is the III smaller than subsequent versions like mark 4/5 and 6/7?
-
(1) I'm open to buying used. (2) For all around travel/hiking use (3) Mainly taking photos of people and scenery in day light

I started with a Canon T1i and later upgraded to a 90D. Honestly I don't think there is much of an improvement. The biggest improvement (that potentially impacts IQ) is probably AF, but even T1i's ...
