All in all , very nice specs, i expected this price tag, in that sense, i am disappointed as i hoped it would plummit below 400. At this price, buy a used few months old iphone .

Nah, sorry, specs ok, price nok.. next

On article Nikon reshuffles management structure (244 comments in total)

djesus what a structure, so many devisions in parrelel, how can they manage that?

And thi sis supposed to be a cleaned up structure? Lets hope they manage to pick up their position again. Stopping th e 1 series is imho a wrong thing.

OK, Ricoh is still alive, about time we heard something from them.

The fact that they announce a new color is not important, the act that they announce anything is.

Still hope for a new camera from them.

For those who ask wtf is this; stone-age camera? No othe rbrand has a sensor + lens combi tuned to eachother as Ricoh. Spent 600 on any other camera, and this small gem will blow your pics away.

My workflow cannot be shorter than when i use Ricoh.

Hmm, my Ricoh CX3 way back already had this function, the iny sensor and the small aperture made it rather useless, but, this is not new.

The CX3 has a function to record 5 images in a row at different focal points, resulting in exactly the same thing.

Still, its clear Panasonic is on the right track

Ricoh really frustrates me, i love the camera's to shoot pictures, all the rest, stop doing this; teta, limited editions,

like this set; why do they sell it in a big alu box? A Ricoh is typically very pocaktable, so i'll never ever use the box as carying case.

A Few years ago Ricoh aquired Pentax and we all had high hopes, but all we see is new Pentax stuff and complete discontinuing all Ricohs, the GRII is so good, making a 3 would be stupid, so probably this edition is like the funeral edition of Ricoh camera's..... Sad, realy sad to see this happening.

On article Getting off the ground: Cheap drones for photography (155 comments in total)

Drone photography is going to have a major impact, for over a century, we where able to shoot pics from a very limited variation in angle.

This is going to be a booming business.

Drones and 3D printing will have a never seen impact on society.

a Rolls is a car with 4 tires and an engine, what, all cars have a 4 tires and an engine, why does a Rolls cost 10x as much?

A Leica is a camera with a screen and a lens, what all cameras have a screen and a lens, why does a Leica cost 10x more.

You simply need to have a niche product that has all posible features, specifically hand made, which simply outperforms all others, without being able to tell you why by reading specs.

Great job don eLeica, price is what it should be, for those who can afford it; if a Rolls passes , i stop and look at it, if a Leica passes, i stop and look at it with great envy.

RichRMA: It's still a glorified Coolpix, really. I can't really see the point in having interchangeable lenses on a camera like that, except for novelty purposes. Nikon and Canon; the DSLR "boom" isn't going to last forever so would it really threaten your entire existence to release at least 1 (no pun intended) serious mirror-less?

fully agree,
the 1 inch is a capable size to work with, but the standard zoom is degrading the 1 series to a PxS.
Plus the pricetag is, well, enough said about that.
Can understand the small form factor requires a small lens, but if the standard zoom would be a lot bigger, more serious people would jump into it.
Cut the lens trick to compress 81 into 30 mm, simply make the lens 81 mm long, open up the aperture to f1.8.

this is new, DPR openly dares to quesion the existance of a Nikon.

Great piece of journalism guys, i think you summarised perfectly what most of us think about this 1 series. To behonoust, if Samsung, Pana, Sony or any other but Canon would have made the 1 series, it would have been gone long time. Its because Nikon is known fo rits outstanding DSLRs that people still migth believe the 1 seires must have something.

They have, but the pricetag is simply way off Immediatly half the price , and the thing might start selling, it will blow all PxS away. and PxS i mean the top end of the PxS at 3-400 usd.

hope to see a review soon,

the button config seems to be Pentax and not Ricoh, i hope the UI is Ricoh , if not, stop confusing me and rebadge it back to Pentax.

this is what you get after spending 4000 Usd on a full frame and pro lens.

135 mm, f2.8,full frame.

Look similar to Leica Noctilux 50/f0.95 on a M9.

i love them a lot.

I cannot believe heavy pp was used, maybe some vignetting, but the hardware she uses can generate these pics out of camera.

So indeed strange why she gets coverage at DPR, so many many other great ones on 500px?
