Another of Carol's cacti, this is a South American plant that only blooms at night. She had been waiting for the bud to open for a few days and discovered it fully open at 5:30 this morning. When ...

A first rate image in every respect. Well done!

I don't know what sort of power zoom you have experienced before, but don't assume all power zooms behave the same. I've seen PZs that change focal length via a lever mounted on top of the camera; ...

My preference is for the B&W.

I thought something similar about power zooms, until I got one. Now I've got 4 of them (3 black, 1 silver), and have put the 2 10-30 originals on the shelf while waiting for the aperture gear in ...

Looks like an attractive camera, and I have no issues with you posting here about it.

There is little chance that Nikon is still repairing N1 lenses as many of the parts are no longer available. But you could always ask Nikon. Many of us have sent lenses to Mr. Huang in Taiwan ...

DX Nikons work well on N1 cameras via the FT1. There are a lot of cheap 18-55 DX kit lenses for sale as well as DX 55-200 lenses. Other popular choices are the 40/2.8 DX macro and the 85/3.5 DX macro.

I've been suggesting to a friend on the other side of the country that she could get much better results shooting raw and processing her images to recover blown out whites, etc. I've convinced her ...

Here's a full sized jpeg without noise reduction from either Deep Prime or NoNoise. I didn't touch the default settings in Photoshop under Detail - Sharpening 40, Noise Reduction 0, Color Noise ...

I suspected that might be the case. I'd be interested if you can characterize the times when NoNoise might be better. Only jpeg to work with? What else? Interesting. That's what I'm seeing with ...

Yes, I've also seen some "melting" of detail already with NoNoise. Perhaps there's something else I'm doing wrong with it.

Thanks. I'll try that later today when I have time again for computer/photography. I hope the fix is that simple.

A few months ago I finally purchased DxO PhotoLab to get the Deep Prime feature,, and I've been happy using it as the front end to Photoshop for my NEF files. But with the recent talk in this ...
