On article New GF: Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF7 flips for selfies (402 comments in total)

I think it's a much needed re-direction for the GF line.

Owning a GX7 and GH3, the GM's and LX100 didn't really appeal to me, but I might be tempted to retire my very battered LX3 for one of these.

And judging by the youtube promo, looks like it will be great for personal porn!

I'm just a girl, so maybe I don't get it, but why would I buy this without TTL? I'd love a wireless with radio instead of the really sucky optial.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

On article Pentax K-3 Review (512 comments in total)

I have no experience with Pentax and I'm a m4/3 user, so I don't have a "dog in the hunt," but there seems to be a disconnect between the narrative and final rating of 83%/Gold? I must have missed a page or two.

Really getting to the point where I don't give any value to their final verdict.

On article Nikon 1 V3: a quick summary (594 comments in total)

With out commenting on the camera itself, the primary thing that would disuade me from investing in this system is the limited range of lenses and the limited compatibility with other systems, even larger Nikons.

With m4/3, you could buy an entry level GF and know that any lens you purchase could be used in the future with a large range of cameras, up to a GH4 or EM1.

Except for my GX7, still been holding on to my old stuff:LX3, GH2, and my FZ50. I don't use the FZ50 any more tho and probably should give to someone. Don't think it's worth much on ebay.

I skipped the GH3, but I think I'll start savings up for the GH4.

kewlguy: For such an extensive review, why hasn't DPR tried other RAW converters for Fuji? Clearly ACR is the worst of all for processing X-Trans files including X20/X10. There are Iridient Developer, C1 Pro, PhotoNinja, and others. Of course, from the review I could see DPR loves OOC JPG too much.

@historianx - don't you think that statement is a bit of an overreach? You may like them better, and in fact, they may be a bit better, but to say "doesn't even come close" really underminds your credibility.

@Butler, in this day and age, I would think the how video is handled is very important. The review comments on how poor the video quality is, would alone, again IMO, keep it from achieving Gold status. Of course it's your publication and you make the rules, but I just can't see a camera reaching this level with a "poor" rating on a key feature. Just sayin.

Not that I care really, but curious how the X-E2 gets a score of 80 and Gold, yet the GX7 received a 78 and Silver; the GX7 was criticized for having only a 2 axis IBIS and none for video, yet the X-E2 doesn't have IBIS at all; GX7 has a tilting touch screen and the X-E2 is fixed and no touch feature; GX7 has far superior video and seems the IQ is about the same, and they seem to be in the same "class" so what's up with that?

You can actually get your own skin for about $21 at aki-asahi.com, of course you have to do it yourself, but I did it for both my GF1 and GX1

With 36 MP FF now available, I wonder if the need for this kind of beast really exists?

I'd rather have a small pocketable add-on flash than a small pocketable add-on EVF. Besides, with the fast lenses you can get with m4/3 I find myself using flash less and less, and when I have to use one, I'll grab a FL36 or 50.

Really kind of a shame. Seem like Fuji was making a comeback with some really interesting camera, but given some of the issues with the X100 and now this, I would certainly give pause to being an earlier buyer of the X-Pro1.

Kind of disappointing. I was hoping Fuji was coming back to life. Seemed all they made were crappy bridge cameras that always seemed to come in at the bottom of any DP review. These new cameras seemed exciting.

That would be quite a leap of faith for a brand new lens mount.

I noticed under Scene Modes it has a special setting for "Natural Skin Tone." I guess that's a good idea.

And check it out - a fast f3.1 at wide angle! It just keeps on giving.
