Kevin Coppalotti: Carey is 100% correct on the frame rates. it is a hindrance to a sports shooter doing big events for hours, -all those pics have to be looked at and edited, and stored.

Anyone who has done a large sports event shoot like Noosa tri with 3500 bike riders knows there is a massive job in processing the pics and getting something online for your customers ASAP. People want their photos 3 nano seconds after the event has finished. 5 frames per second with 100% in focus is much more useful. The ability to lock onto a moving target and stay locked on is so much more important than the sheer volume of shots.

Is there a battery powered version a sports shooter could take into the field?

On article Getting up close: Canon EF-M 28mm macro hands-on review (100 comments in total)
In reply to:

tkbslc: While this looks like a great option, I'm a bit baffled on the 28mm focal length. First, because it's just REALLY wide for a macro and forces extremely close working range. And second because this is only the second prime in EF-M mount and the other one is a 22mm. So this provides zero utility as a non-macro for most EOS M shooters. If it was a 55-60mm macro, it could double as a portrait lens and make a nice pair for the 22mm in a 2-prime kit. But who wants to carry a 22-28 pair of primes?

Still, the light idea is pretty cool.

What he said.

Great choice of gear. there is a lot to be said for the KISS principle so you can concentrate on the work and not be loaded up with gear.
