Thank you for checking. It was a wild guess to quantify the raw manipulation but apparently things don't work that way.
-
Have you had a chance to compare dng file sizes from gcam and expert raw? I think that should be related to the amount of information kept in the file.

Stabilized ILC-s are a different league. IS on DSLR-s are not always available, most are lens-based. Mirrorless are better here, most have decent IBIS now (one exception being the old a7s you ...

Gcam gives me far better results than the stock samsung app at night. Haven't tried pro mode with tripod though. You're right, ILC without stabilization will loose. IS gives you 3-4EV.
-
Wrong. See above. Gcam takes literally seconds to acquire. If there are people, animals, etc moving around, slight wind is working on the foliage, the shot is wrecked.
-
I'll be experimenting more, so far my 64MP stock jpeg's show the most details on the a52s. I stopped using gcam for well lit subjects. They are different, pixel-shift needs multiple exposures with ...

As long as nobodoy and nothing is moving, you have all the time of the world to collect photons. Plain simple, if the situation allows for 10, 50 times "longer exposure" (more frames), then you ...

They need/will find more space. 5 more mm for the camera unit can still be considered pocketable.
-
No, I am travelling until mid next week and my hands are unfortunately shorter than 3k miles to grab the camera to satisfy your curiosity sooner.
-
Shooting raw shows the potential in the hardware. If a decent picture can be pulled from the raw in PP, a camera app could just as well be written to do the job on the fly.
-
That's the best description of me. I recently upgraded my 6years old s7 edge and see some real improvement in the mobile department. Not sure yet how far I get with gcam but the factory 64MP shots ...

Will do! I hope the batteries are still ok. I have a gx80 with working batteries as well but that produces awful ooc jpegs that'll very likely loose.
-
Will do, I am short of an air ticket to the exact scene but can produce a pair with a samsung a52s when I get home next week.
-
You are unlucky with your ILC then, my reserve, kind of pocketable 9 years old e-pl5 will leave ANY samsung-apple-huawei gizmos in the dust. OOC jpeg, no post.
-
All you have to do is to choose a conservative preset that doesn't overdo the job. Efex has at least one. Don't know the others.
-
Not absolutely straightforward, but take 3 bracketed shots at -2EV, 0 and +2EV, feed it to any decent HDR application, like Efex pro and voilá 🙂.
-
Noise reduction on the phone might not be as efficient as in post on PC. More, if you stack multiple raw files, killing the details on every one of them before stacking does even more harm.
-
Indeed they are both fine. Daylight landscape with moderate need for DR is no challenge anymore :). If you need more details just do pano and any decent phone will deliver you all the finest ...
-
Right, and the 80D shots pls, in full res ;)
-
They should be, if the machine obeys the software/the port is OK...
