The Z 8 isn't being discontinued...assume you are repeating the same typo above and meant the D800!
-
I've got it working with GPS on the medium setting (accurate enough for me). Very useful for when I travel to places I've not been before.
-
It makes lenses unnecessarily large on z mount which could be a contradiction for the use of the system. E mount suits it much better.

Strongly disagree with just about everything you've said or say here. You've argued about stuff like this in the past and it's then turned up in proceeding cameras so obviously the companies and ...

Yeah exactly. A strange paradigm isn't it?

Sorry, don't agree. Firstly, by what you have wrote, it sounds like you don't shoot much landscape photography. Take it from me who spends most of my time doing it - light is fleeting and often one ...

Advantages of mirrorless and all...it could be explored. I wouldn't downplay it, it would be useful especially when even higher res EVF's come about. It would even be useful now.

Fine for the wide apertures, but you don't get real time depth of field preview beyond 5.6 though ever. You can press DOF preview if you assign it to a button, but you cannot zoom in...As soon as ...

Very good points here. Sony have got plenty right and somethings not so great, the same with all brands but I see this as a viable option for studio shooters...

Nope. With experience it's quite easy to see how a lens focus shifts - at f/11 it's not really a huge issue but it can be mitigated. I've personally noticed the D850 is better in low light ...

People shooting studio day in and day out know how their lens performs. When shooting at f/11 they can focus at the correct position to account for it. I see you have replied to anothermike's post, ...

Yes I know you were; however you can only do 1/50. It should not make any difference, or be visible over if you could select 1/48 vs 1/50. Give it a try.

That's the whole point, it is meant to resemble the film look. That aside, the camera would be gimbled and stabilised for motion shots. Of course it is going to look "juddery" it is is just some ...
-
1/50 is where you set it. It will work fine. Shutter angles are general rules though. Ie in low light it goes out the window and you need to use your own judgement. Shoot at 1/25 at 24fps to ...

It cancels when you zoom in i'm sure. Not that great for landscapers trying to really see critical dof areas etc.
-
See anothermike's post. It does matter in a studio situation to get accurate AF...

Interesting - did not realise the zf did this. So you are saying with MF glass attached it would still look for eyes and allow you to pull focus to that eye? I'd like to see that on the Z 8 for sure.

Nikon really need to put a menu option to focus wide open even if at a tiny aperture to help with studio shooting. Experienced guys know how to deal with focus plane shift and can account for it. ...
