mmditter: My opinion does not matter at all to the camera makers, or to the camera market. Still, I do not believe this is a good thing for photography. I am a bit of a cynic, and I believe that camera makers have made a very concerted and so far a successful effort to make everyone think they need to replace their DSLR cameras with mirrorless.
“The point is though” lol do you really believe the BS you say ? Or do you just babble about anything

Lol,but the sensor is seeing it thru a lens….

Screw that the D850 till the wheels fall off
Ken______: The Nikkei article seems to be contradicting itself. The headline says: "Nikon to stop making SLR cameras". The text says: "production and distribution of existing SLR models will continue."
How can Nikon "stop making SLR cameras" while production and distribution continues?
That is extremely poor and confusing writing.
I took it as they’ll continue producing current models till 2025,Nikons policy is to provide service for bodies and lenses for 10 yrs after they are discontinued
mmodena: Would you mind to tell us how did you get out there to snap the shot? Can you fly?
It’s ok there’s still a huge amount of people (photographers included) who are anti-drone.....
mmodena: Would you mind to tell us how did you get out there to snap the shot? Can you fly?
Yes , a P4P,it lets you capture images from points of view unobtainable any other way.....

Yes I fly, look in my gallery
What the hell is going on with that one brownish pic with the stone in the center ,looks like someone drop the camera and it tripped the shutter, or maybe they just got sick of using the Z and slammed it, at least that’ll help explain that sample, lol
Nikon is notorious for bad sample images but this takes it to another level
Lovely shot.....
monographix: I don't get why the planet has bothered about instagram anyway in the first place. If FB has been technically and essentially garbage, instagram is taking human culture back to the stone age.
Orion09, so which was meant for you ?
I have IG on my iPad Pro, w.t.f.?
lickity split: Cool....
Yeah I’m kinda local ( Jersey City) and I know about the spot, this and the waterfront piling in Brooklyn are overshot by swarms of folks
Cool....
Cool shot
Harry33: D6, well Nikon has nailed it ... I mean ... their coffin.
I think D6 is, also what Matt Granger said, a camera for 2015 technically, but not for 2020. It is basically another D5.
Now Canon really has exceeded Nikon. Just think about 20 frames/second live view 1D X Mk III. And then they have a 8K video capable EOS R5.
I am not saying I need those specs. It is just what is technically possible today. D6 offers nothing new for today. Nothing, to be honest. Now that was Nikon's call.
I myself am a visual artist, I use camera and photos as tool for my art. Like painters use color tubes and brushes. And I need a high resolution camera for that, nothing less.
BTW go and see and listen to Ken Wheeler (or Angry Photographer or Theoria Apophasis). He claimed the D3, D4s and D850 (plus D500) are Legendary, but that the D6 is a failure.
You go listen to that a-hole
It’s hard to believe that this $400 camera has a better AF system then Nikon Z bodies that cost 5 times as much
worldaccordingtojim: I wanted to post a follow up, I have owned the z50 for a month. I have the z6, 14-30 z, 50mm z, 85mm z, 24-70 2.8 Z, and I bought the z50 with the 16-50. The z50 feels like a smaller z6. Up to ISO 800 the IQ is so close you would have to look at 200% to tell the difference. The VR in the 16-50 is as good as it gets, it is very stable in video also. That lens is the size of a pancake prime, and sharp throughout its range.
Auto focus is great, more than anyone would need, the battery life is good, the controls and grip are a pleasure to use all day. All the z primes work perfectly on the z50, the 50mm at it's current price of under $500 seems like the perfect third lens. Video is great, I switch to the neutral profile and it retains detail and gives a nice natural look. AF is great, it picks up eyes, video AF is on par with DPAF, tracking works great, choose the subject and it follows it all over the field of view.
You sound like a Nikon advertisement
Fantastic shot.....
