Hubertus Bigend: And again, dpreview ignores Micro Four Thirds when talking about APS-C cameras, while, even if we would want to view FF as a completely different 'class' (against which there would be some good reasons, too), APS-C and MFT are much closer to each other than either is to FF, and too close for having grounds to keep them separate in reviews and comparisons, which really seems arbitrary if not ideological.

Also, Olympus has been implementing focus stacking since 2015, seven years ago, so 'original' hardly seems an appropriate description of Canon's first implementation in 2022 ;-)

Today, even the affordable E-M10 IV has it. Which also leads me to the elephant in the room: $979 is a lot of money for an entry-level mirrorless body.

Not to mention lack of IBIS....seriously canon?

No, the correct answer would be apple continuing support on devices longer than 5 years. I didn't buy a macbook or any other apple device to load other OS onto it in 5 years as apple decides that you are no longer worthy of support. So no. they are not two seperate things.

Actually it's not, unless you are using apple computers. My acer is just as safe as it gets all security updates at the OS level, browser level and software level.

@deliverator, I sold it. And...that's not an answer to the problem. The problem is apple intentionally degrades computers at an alarming rate to sell more computers. Fortunately I did not drink said kool aid and moved on to systems where you can get more than 5 years of OS support.

@terrano, One of the main reasons I dumped Apple for my desktops. Planned obsolescence drove me away. They tell you when your computer and software is obsolete not me. I have a 2007 acer aspire 7720 running windows 10 on current update schedule while the 2007 macbook I owned was basically a paperweight, as I could not access the internet anywmore because both safari and chrome were "no longer supported". Plus, like yourself, I paid a large sum of money for aperture in digital form. They advised me that I could not download my program I paid 500 dollars for anymore. At that point apple was no longer an option for computers for me. fool me once......

Don't look at the picture then. I do not smoke, however, who cares if it's used for a photo on a website.

Point missed. As I said. User benchmark uses systems and averages them out on all CPUs. Out of all the machines the 12700 is 8 percent faster. They don't use one system of one configuration. And one of another. It's literally hundreds of configurations for each processor. Go look for yourself. It's the most unbiased way to test CPU becuase it takes systems out of it becuase they use so many different configurations and then take the average.

content_creator_666: You could until recently get a Legion 5i Pro with 12700H, 3070 Ti, 16GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB, for £1575. I got the white version with 32GB for about £2000.

The 12700H can actually perform better than the 12900H, depending on the laptop, power, and cooling - many people have tested this and Hardware Unboxed did a very good video about it - so there's very little point spending more for anything above the 12700H.

The Razer Blade laptops are also slightly thinner, so cooling and performance suffer a bit - See JarrodTech's latest video for evidence of this.

So unless you need the fancy screen, built-in SD card slot, and a slight weight reduction, save your money and get something cheaper, better cooled, and faster.

From all the laptop reviews I have watched so far this year, the Legion 5i Pro with the 12700H and 3070 Ti (or 3070), seems like the best if you need something powerful. Prices can vary wildly by region and date, and availability is also poor now (same for many new computers).

Just stating the fact that the 12700 is faster than the 12800. No matter what way you slice it. Its not one pc of one cpus and one pc of the other cpu. Userbenchmark takes an average of ALL pcs using each and provides data with that.

@brentshumer, go look at userbenchmark and pick both processors. The 12700 is listed as faster by 8-12%. It is what it is.

@brentshumer, The 12800 is slower than the 12700H. Not by a lot...only 8% overall but it's slower. So he is technically right. Whether you can perceive the said difference is an entirely different story.

The legion is a plastic'y ugly design. The Razer is in a different league in terms of build quality, and overall design. All aluminum, great keyboard, besides the Logo, it could pass for a high end business class or creator class machine. The legion looks like a gamer boys machine.

First off, your username is CLASSIC!, secondly, I like that fact that there is a person who doesn't fan boy out at the first drop of the words Apple, mac, iPhone, iPad. Thank you! Next, I find the same thing with my Dell notebook. I put it to "sleep" and come down the next morning and it's really warm doing background processes. So like you, I turn it off every time I am not using it. Thankfully the time from I press the button to useable system is only seconds. Approximately 10 or so. That does not bother me at all.
How long does it take your M1?

When did apple start using this display? I was at staples yesterday and they had the 2020? intel macbook pro 16 on display there. The screen did not WOW me like all the hoopla about them on various sites. It had to be on MAX brightness to be remotely decent.

snapa: Since the human eye can only see a refresh rate of ~72-75Hz, I think 240Hz is a waste of money and hardware. But, people like to get the best and fastest, like mega pixels when they don't really need them. I guess while people have more money than sense, this kind of thing will continue.

@snapa. HansJ sees in "retina". Its this magical apple only vision you get once you drink the Kool aid so much. I had it for a little while, but sold it for a huge loss to return to regular 4k. ha ha

faster than M1...so it holds its own.
