@trolly You wrote ” I find it a bit pointless to shoot my 50 MP camera ”. What is really pointless is to shoot with your high mp camera with great colorspace and look at pictures on a monitor...

Hertz and flicker isnt the same thing as already mentioned. But most of the brands uses pvm (pulse) to drive their monitors. So, if monitor brightness is high, the pulse is high, hence low...
-
@theorist the BVM X310 is not an OLED. It uses the same twin layer IPS panels like the EIZO (and the old Flanders). However, Sony did have an grade 1 OLED monitor, but they had to pull it back...

First you gathered your knowledge from youtube and now you have worked on a 30.000$ monitor? I’m sorry, you are still wrong. Why not actullay get in contact with a real colorist ask instead?
-
Are you banned for seeing one in real life? They are far from being ”apple glossy”, very far. Totally different surface. I think you are locked on office/gaming monitors. A semi high end...
-
Yes, and its not glossy either. The EIZO Prominence uses the same panels and the colorists working with theese two do what ever they can to minimise reflections. They even have e.g. grey clothes +...

@rockjano This sums it up pretty well: https://www.lightillusion.com/why_calibrate.html
-
The biggest issue within monitors among many of us is lack of knowledge. Thats even the case within Dpreview.
-
A factory calibration is more of a qc check before the monitor leaves the plant. And the quality of the qc is up to the manufacturers qc demands. And every single panel has its own ”fingerprint”...

And you dont see OLED as color critical monitors at colorists etc. But undependet of any monitor tech, the absolut main thing - If you are going to work with pictures or color grade movies - is...

@it will be fine. The funny thing is that you cant judge if a color is fine/right. We as humans doesnt have that capabillity. Look at...
-
Ok Sordes, so name one professional monitor that has a glossy surface.
-
It depends. Oled has is blacker/can be black. On the other hand OLED lacks brightness. Moreover (which is easy to see in eg sportsbars) the blue color has shorter lifetime than the others.

See the panel as the sensor guys - the sensor works as an solar panel = it records physical energy via a lot of lens elements and creates a digital signal., The panel works in the other direction,...

And the funny thing is… There ar no true professional monitors that uses a glossy panel/surface. Because glossy panels creates a lot of reflections.

I just read the Apple Studio Display review at Rtings.com Its funny:) They write e.g.: Sadly, there's no local dimming feature to improve this The quote above is regarding black level. Its...

Well, dive down on the tests of graphic monitors for a while. https://www.prad.de/top10/top-10-bestenliste-27-zoll-grafik-monitore/ Rtings cant test graphical monitors properly..

My wish list for 2023 is that Dpreview hire pro’s for their monitor testing/monitor competence. It needs to be much closer to the camera depts’ skills. My suggestion is to start by learning from...

Well, Apple has never been in the ”color directions”. A monitor that cant be hardware calibrated and not beeing able to save own profiles, is actually infact more or less useless if the material...
